Tech Talk on Data Analytics and Opportunities

The Department of Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune, Lavasa, in collaboration with Women in Big Data (WiBD), organized A tech talk on 'Data Analytics and Opportunities' on 24 March 2021. The resource person for the talk was Prof. Akhil Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Data Science, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The event started off at 4:15 pm with 40 participants. Miss Arundhati Kolahal, Office Bearer, welcomed the audience and introduced the speaker, Prof. Akhil Nair. Prof. Akhil Nair started the talk by briefly introducing "What on Earth is Data Science". He talked about the functioning of the Google navigation system as an example. He followed by giving an example of good prediction by predicting a perfect gift for an unknown person. Launch of ‘ARTHBODH’ – The Finance Newsletter

'Harmoney', the Finance Club of MBA at School of Business and Management, Christ (Deemed to be University) Lavasa, Pune launched its first newsletter for the year 2021 on Friday, 12th March 2021 at 2.30 pm through CISCO Webex platform. The launch was followed by some activities organized by III trimester MBA Finance specialization students.  The event started at 2.30 PM with an introduction by the MC, Ms Althea Fernadez of VI trimester MBA Finance followed by an invocation song. The newsletter was released by Dr Fr Arun Antony Chully, Academic Coordinator of the campus. He congratulated team Harmoney for the first edition of the Newsletter for the year 2021 and read out the contents of the newsletter for the audience which included 20 articles, 1 puzzle and few tips for investing in stock markets. The Economics Club of the Dept. of Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus – The hub of Analytics hosted a very influential event under the banner of Economic Conclave 2021 on 9th of March 2021, Tuesday. The theme of the conclave was “Politics at the Intersection of Society and Economy: reflections on contemporary developments in India”. There were talks by eminent academicians and policy advisors as well as presentations by the students of the University. The event saw active participation from students and senior academicians from several universities and institutions across India. The event was flagged off by a panel discussion by two renowned academicians- Prof. N.R. Bhanumurthy (Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru, Dr B.R. Music is the language of the mind which everyone across the world enjoys irrespective of its variety. It crosses boundaries and travels through people’s heart. It is known as a part of numerous cultures and societies, whether it is past or present.  After a long time away, people coming together always energises the soul and makes one feel more at home. The Student Welfare Office of CHRIST Lavasa campus organised “Concerto Night”, an event that focused on music was a night leave our worries behind and immerse ourselves in the melodies of our friends. The event was conducted in the new café in the management block- “Café Concerto”. The rhythm of the music, along with delicious food and the well-lit ambience, created a very wonderful experience altogether. It was the first music festival hosted by CHRIST, Lavasa post lockdown. Gender Justice Lecture Series

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, on 8th March, the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune, Lavasa Campus launched its two-day Gender Justice Lecture Series. The series was organised in collaboration with the Student Bar Association. E-certificates have been awarded to students who participated.  The aim of the Gender Justice Lecture Series was to highlight the contemporary social and legal nuances in the conversation around Gender Justice in India. We are all gathered here today as an acknowledgement of all the social, political and economic achievements of women worldwide. The goal of this women’s day is a reminder of the age-old adage, “Action speak louder than words”, it is to act to challenge existing biases so that equal opportunities, recognition and representation are given to women from every walk of life. Women in Big Data is one such organization that can help ensure that collective action is taken for women in STEM. WiBD is a global volunteer-driven organization that works tirelessly to achieve its goal of cultivating tangible opportunities for women, strengthening the diversity in big data and developing leaders through technical training, career development, mentoring, and networking. The Department of Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus, in association with Women in Big Data (WiBD) organized the inaugural of the WiBD Student Chapter on 08 March 2021. The event was open to the faculty, students and interested members of WiBD. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr Ch Janaki (Scientist, CDAC Bangalore). The guests of honour were Ms Sowmya Moni and Dr Ekta Mehul, Co-Directors of WiBD. The event officially commenced with the introduction given by Ms Arundathi Kolahal (Treasurer, CUWiBD). Dr Samiksha Shukla (HOD, Dept of Data Science), Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus gave a welcome note to all attending the event.  Dr Fr. Research Methodology and IEEE Authorship Lab

The Department of Data Science of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa organized a two-day workshop on ‘Research Methodology and IEEE Authorship Lab’ by Dr Navin Kumar. The event started with Prof. Akhil M. Nair welcoming the participants to the workshop. He introduced Dr Navin Kumar, the Chairperson and Associate Professor at the Dept of Electronics and Communication, School of Engg, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru.  Dr Navin Kumar took over the session with a brief introduction to the IEEE  regarding their scientific resources and contribution. He gave informative insights about IEEE on why every student should be a member of IEEE and the same innovations. He briefly discussed the procedure and benefits of joining the IEEE and encourage the students to join. He continued to speak about IEEE standards like WiFi, Bluetooth, Firewire, IEEE Xplore digital library and other powerful search tools. On the special occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, a special webinar was organized by The School of Business Management, Christ (Deemed to Be) University, Lavasa. FINIQ – The Online Finance Quiz

HARMONEY – the finance club of MBA of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa conducted  ‘FINIQ’ – an online Finance Quiz on Friday, 26th February 2021 from 4:30pm – 6pm through Cisco Webex.  UG students of CHRIST Lavasa campus were the participants of the quiz and all students of MBA Finance specialization were the audience. The event had 3 rounds based on various questions from the field of finance that were designed to test the knowledge of students in the finance domain. The organizers were Mr Jairaj Bohra of VI Trimester MBA Finance and Mr Vinay Kumar of III trimester MBA Finance and the scorer was Mr Amal Xavier Simon of III MBA Finance. The quiz started at 4.30 PM with Mr Vinay Kumar welcoming the participants and audience and also introducing the rules and regulations. For the scoring purpose, an innovative concept of a virtual wallet with an initial balance of Rs 1000 was allotted to each team.
