Exuberance at XUBRENZ 2019





The Annual Management Fest “XUBRENZ 2019” organized by Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa began by invoking the blessings of the Almighty on 1st February 2019. Fr Dr Jossy George, Director CIM, Fr Arun Antony, Academic Co-ordinator, Chief Guest, Dr Fr Benny Thomas, Director, School of Law and Engineering, Christ University  (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, Dr Binu P Paul , Head of Academics, Assistant Professor Soumya V, Coordinator, XUBRENZ 2019, Mr Venkatesh and Ms Riya Joshy, student coordinators came forward  for the lighting of lamp. Students from Christ University, Bengaluru and a few colleges from Pune attended the event.

 XUBRENZ, a national level Annual Management Fest, is known to engage and challenge management students from across the country with highly competitive events in the fields of Business Analytics, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources as well as Arts. The fest expects participants to channelize their knowledge, sense of reasoning and creativity along with zeal and zest and be the best out of the rest. The theme for XUBRENZ 2019 was based on “Evolving into Automation”, which focused on current market trend. The events were modeled on this core idea, which tried to conceptualize traditional business models into their automated models. The simulation approach which were incorporated in events gave a valuable learning experience to all the participants. It can be rightly said that the evolution of man is changing drastically and it is reflected in change in life. Human beings have evolved into intelligent individuals and they are on the verge of a new revolution called as Automation.

Fr Arun Antony addressed the gathering and declared XUBRENZ 2019 open. He warmly welcomed the august gathering. He articulated that in the wake of different revolutions automation has taken the world by surprise. He gave examples of this trend in Germany and other places in the world. Fr Arun mentioned that mankind has come a long way since the first industrial revolution and the fourth revolution has paved way to success with the advent of technology. Machines have taken over from human beings but talent is still intact to handle the machines. Fr Arun mentioned that the event has given the participants and the organizers an opportunity to learn from each other and build connections.

With an encouraging beginning everyone felt that all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, an opening of the mind, an intentional pause and reset, or a new route to begin to see new options and new possibilities. The anchor, Ann Landis briefed the participants about general guidelines pertaining to the event. Different event heads took over and guided the participants to the venue.

The participants took part in various events enthusiastically. The events are as follows:

Business Event, Verdugo, Best Manager event, the contestants went through rigorous rounds which tested their managerial skills, talent and knowledge and thereby tested their potential to the fullest. It tested the participants on all aspects an ideal manager is expected to have such as analytical prowess, presentation skills, asset management and decision making ability.

Marketing Event, Markicians, tested their creativity, innovation, knowledge and most importantly their patience. The group, Markicians offered the perfect platform to showcase their skills and brought out the best in them. The participants explored the realms beyond their existing knowledge with the wit of marketing in an interesting way. It evaluated the participants based on various aspects such as product designing, creating market strategies and fundamental marketing.

In FinX, Finance Event the contestants won on the basis of their financial intellect and grit by going through a series of tests against the best minds. They took part in unique management and logic based events. It was designed to see how well the participants can manage their finances to maximize their profits while dealing with market uncertainties.

The Arbitrage, Mock Stock Event polished their trading, financial and analytical skills and the participants competed against the smart and intelligent minds to design the most valuable portfolio from the given stocks. It stimulated them to analyze their innate trading skills.

HR Event was equally interesting. Empregado 2019 presented a plethora of HR events to mold them into an HR professional. The candidates were evaluated on their negotiation, management and problem solving skills.

Entrepreneurship Event motivated the budding entrepreneurs to come up with new ideas to start a business. Their knowledge as well as negotiation skills were tested based on the idea of Automation.

Qurious, the Business Quiz event put to test the participant’s knowledge with regards to the problem solving abilities and their knowledge in line with the rising trends and developments in the corporate sector. It tested the knowledge of each participant in multiple fields such as business, technology etc.

Crossroad, Business Debate event aimed to evaluate the participants on their speaking skills, convincing abilities and rebuttal skills as they took part in a well-structured business debate where they put forth their opinion and points on multiple topics related to industry and the theme of automation.

The overall winners were School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, Bannerghatta Road Campus, Christ University, Bengaluru and Department of Commerce, Christ University, Bengaluru.

On 2nd February 2019 the closing ceremony was anchored by Mr Eric and Ms Anushree. Director, Fr Jossy P George’s addressed the gathering and conveyed his appreciation for the success of the programme. The Chief Guest, Dr Fr Benny Thomas, Director, School of Law and Engineering, Christ University (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru applauded the efforts of the organizing team and the active participation of the students. The participants shared their memorable experience with everyone. Mr Akash Mathew gave a befitting vote of thanks at the end. The event ended on a cheerful note and it was successfully coordinated by Assistant Professor Soumya V.
