72nd Republic Day Celebration

The 72nd Republic day celebrations were held at the Central Block arena initiated by the Students' Bar Association of the School of Law following COVID 19 protection rules. The Academic Coordinator, Heads of Department, Coordinators, Faculty members, Counsellors, Office Administration staff, House Keeping staff, Security personnel and the students were present. The Flag was hoisted by our Director Rev. Fr. Dr Jossy followed by the National Anthem led by Ms Sandhya and Team. As soon as the National flag was hoisted it was greeted by a salute. The address in the English language was by our Director, wherein the emphasis was on Diversity and that is the beauty of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) as we have students from all around the country. The Speech in the Hindi language was delivered by Ms Debhanshi Dhal reminding the young students the true essence of patriotism, rekindling our hearts with the fond remembrance of our soldiers at the borders and to follow the mission and vision

Report on Orientation of CISI Programmes

'Harmoney', the Finance club of MBA, organized an orientation about CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment) programs to third trimester MBA Finance students on the 22nd of January 2021. The session started at 2.30 PM through Google Meet. Ms Shruti Tiwai, the MC, gave the welcome address and introduced the speakers to the audience. The speakers of the orientation were Mr Jasneet Singh Bindra, Country Head, CISI and Mr Priyank Upadhyay, Senior Manager & Location Leader - Talent & Training, Mphasis Pune.   Mr Jasneet spoke about CISI certifications, and Mr Priyank spoke about the job potential of those certifications.  CISI, earlier known as Security and Investment Institute, is a non-profit organization registered in the UK. The organization has 170 staff members, almost nine international offices, 45k members out of which 20k are students. It conducts around 40k exams every year. Debate Competition: Indian Economy Post Covid-19 Recession or Recovery

“Harmoney”, the Finance Club organised a debate competition on 15th January 2021 at 2:30 P.M. on Cisco Webex Platform. And the topic for the debate was Indian Economy Post Covid-19 Recession or Recovery. Having discussed the Indian economy amongst students led to spreading awareness regarding finance. The idea behind conducting the competition was to deliver a brief idea about the Finance club and engage students with finance-related activities. The event started with Nanditha Menon's introduction and was followed by briefly describing the debate's rules. There were 14 participants in the respective competition and seven rounds in which two participants were facing off. Out of which two winners were announced and followed by a speech by our own Prof. Binu P. Paul. The last part of the event was Vote of Thanks, which was followed by Aman Kumar Karna. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara Lecture Series

January 03 is celebrated as the Founder's Day in reverence to our founder St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara was a devout Christian clergy who led an extraordinary life of piety and committed action to transform society. He was a visionary who envisaged a just society where all humans would be worthy of dignity, education, justice and respect. To accomplish his vision, he founded the congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 with a vision to serve the marginalized and underprivileged. The CMI congregation inspired by life and teachings of St. Chavara renders its service in educational, social, health care and other sectors with the aim of uplifting the marginalized and integrating them with the present-day society. Parenting Talk - Nurture & Nourish, We Are Together

The CCHS (Center for Counseling & Health Service) organized an hour-long talk on the 9th of January, 2021 at 5.00 pm. Dr Alpana Akolkar & Ms Arpita Ghosh spoke on the importance of nurturing and nourishing together, to mould the next generation.  The Director, Dr Fr Jossy P George, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, said he was happy to initiate such value-added programs for parents and students and encouraged the CCHS department to organize many such programs. The talk began with the disclaimer that there is no thumb rule to parenting. However, there are some basics that we need to keep in mind when interacting with any individual. Those basics were fulfilling the need to be heard, to be seen and to be appreciated.  The talk focused on the 3 Cs, Communication, Comparison & Criticism, both speakers elaborated with relevant examples and conveyed a few tips.  Emphasizing on the generation we are dealing with, understanding them and talking to them in their

FINBOTS 2021

Harmoney-The Finance Club of MBA, Christ (Deemed to be University), Lavasa organised its first club activity for 2021 called FINBOTS, on Friday, 8th January at 2.30 PM through Cisco Webex platform. Two competitions were organised as part of the activity viz., Kahoot Quiz and Finance Memes. The quiz was an individual event and Meme creation was a group event. The quiz was for 30 minutes which consisted of 30 finance-related questions. The winner was Mr Jairaj Bohra of 6 MBA (Finance) and the runner up was Mr Rahid Choudhary of 6 MBA (Finance). There were 10 groups of 5 – 6 students per group for the Meme competition. Winners of the event were Group 3 and Runners up were Group 4. The activity was organised by Ms Faria Khan, Mr Piyush Kumar,  Sherin Susan Thomas, Mr Shabarish Ganesan, Ms Nidhi Singh, Mr Anson Thomas and Mr Vinay Kumar.

St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was an educationalist and a social reformer. His teachings, vision and way of life in themselves, is a source of inspiration that has the power to influence many. We honour this great man and the exemplary human that he was with our founder’s day celebrations, the man from whose vision CHRIST institution was born. On this occasion of founder’s day celebrations, it gives me immense pride that our Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr Joseph C. C is the founding director of our CHRIST Lavasa campus. In his efforts of guidance and encouragement, he has been a source of constant support to us from the very beginning.
