BATCH 2018 – 2020 WELCOMED WARMLY

   Director, Dr Fr Jossy George, Coordinator Fr Arun Antony, students and faculty members of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa welcomed the new students of Batch 2018 – 2020 in the Conference Hall on 25th August 2018. At the outset it was noticed that old students went an extra mile to make them feel at ease. Their warm and friendly smile comforted the parents and students alike. One could notice that an atmosphere of gaiety permeated in the campus.  The inaugural ceremony began with a warm welcome to the new students and their parents as the fresh graduates embark on a journey with dreams in their eyes and aspirations in their hearts. It began with a welcome address by the anchor; Ms Arpita Ghosh. It was followed by a graceful Invocation Dance presented by Eric Premnath and Gopika Nair from CIM team, Natya Vedha. BOOK LAUNCH

On 24th August 2018 Assistant Professor, Ashish G Wilson and Assistant Professor, Dr Benny Godwin J attended the book launch of 'Retail Beyond Detail - The Great Indian Retailing Business' by Sage Publications, at Crossword, Oberoi Mall Goregaon, Mumbai.  Mr. Rakesh Biyani was the Chief Guest and he released the first copy of the book. The Guest of Honour was Mr John Samuel. Amidst a huge gathering Mr Biyani greeted the crowd cheerfully. His critics and well wishers had lots of questions and he answered them patiently. His natural charm won the hearts of all those who were present. The presence of Haati Kaapi Founder, Mr Mahendra, was felt quite prominently.  It was a unique experience for the teachers and they felt that it catered to the recent trends in the industry. ALL GEARED UP TO WELCOME THE NEW ENTRANTS

Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa is all geared up to welcome the new entrants on 25 th August 2018. The pristine landscape, misty mountains, mild to heavy drizzle, cool balmy breeze creates a pleasant ambience. The strategic location of CIM, which is far from the madding crowd, attract students and faculty members alike year after year. The environment is unquestionably conducive for learning as a young PGDM graduate will get multiple avenues to focus on studies. The exposure at the college will unfold a student’s hidden talent and he/she will be groomed to carve a niche for himself or herself. Mr Ashutosh Joshi , CEO & Co-Founder, The Media Street gave a talk on the scope of Communication in Marketing etc to the students of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa on 17th August 2018 . Mr. Joshi holds a degree in Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication along with an interactive course curriculum which has given him exposure and understanding of global, political and economic scenarios. He started his career with Times of India as a correspondent and gained entrepreneurship experience by publishing two issues of his own magazine. This gave Mr Joshi a lot of exposure in the field of communication and helped him gain a lot of experience in terms of sales, marketing operations. 15TH AUGUST 2018 CELEBRATION AT CIM, LAVASA

The country’s 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at CIM, Lavasa on 15th August 2018.  The celebration  commenced with a special prayer  meeting and an atmosphere of solemnity permeated in the Prayer Hall as  prayers were chanted in unison. Director, Fr Jossy hoisted the flag in the premises of CIM, Lavasa. Fr  Jossy was accompanied by Coordinator, Fr Arun. Then the Chief Guest,  Gp Capt J K Pandey addressed the entire gathering and motivated the  students, support staff and faculty members to let the spirit of  nationalism always stay alive in their hearts. He remembered and  recalled the tireless and selfless contribution of our freedom  fighters who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our freedom, which  we cherish today. He glorified the achievements of innumerable freedom  fighters’ struggle for independence. At this juncture he urged the  students to be grateful to the soldiers who still continue to work  diligently for the sake of the country.

AN ENRICHED LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT CIM, LAVASA

CIM, Gaziabad students were on the campus of CIM, Lavasa for a few days. Rupal Srivastava was highly impressed by the faculty members, their style of teaching and above all the ambience at scenic CIM campus. She was pleased to meet well informed faculty members and the sessions changed her personally and professionally. Professor Arpita Ghosh’s class taught her skills required for decision making. Professor Jacob briefed them about important industries and profiles to be kept in mind for future placement. She felt that it was an immensely heart touching experience to spend meaningful and purposeful days at CIM, Lavasa. The faculty members were helpful and cooperative and the exposure gave all the students a chance to expand their horizon and enhance their managerial skills. Akshay Jain from CIM, Gaziabad found the sessions very knowledgeable. Professor Arpita Ghosh’s session focused on voice modulation during a presentation in particular and conversation in general.

CIM, LAVASA – A CONDUCIVE ATMOSPHERE FOR LEARNING

CIM, Lavasa offers a congenial atmosphere for the students and faculties alike. While the students learn and grow within a span of just two years the faculty members continue to impart knowledge and leave an indelible impact in the mind and hearts of their students. Ashish G Wilson , Assistant Professor  has spent a little more than a year at CIM. He feels that it has been a fruitful year and he does not regret the decision of joining CIM, Lavasa as a faculty. He thinks that at CIM a student can learn a lot apart from just academics. As a colleague he experienced that learning was not just limited to academics rather he became adept in working in close coordination with the other colleagues as a team. THE GRAND FINALE

On Friday, 10th August 2018 as soon as the clock struck 2:30 pm everyone assembled outside the Auditorium, CIM Lavasa, where the Grand Finale of "Brandits", Marketing Club took place. The tempo was building up and it heightened the intensity and expectations of the participants. The much awaited event began on a high note amidst loud cheer. In order to bring novelty into their team the marketing students followed a similar dress code or hat or band rigidly to make their team stand out. All efforts were made to ensure perfect coordination  between team members. One of the events was P and N, which refereed to product and naming and it was an interesting yet challenging activity as they had to be creative and authentic. Next activity was aptly called EP ie Elevator Pitch. It focused on an attention-grabbing activity which challenged the marketing students to respond within 90 seconds if they see a CEO near an elevator. The situation was given on the spot. It teste

"BRANDITS" - MOVING ON WITH APLOMB

In continuation with the previous events the degree of commitment has taken "Brandits" to a whole new level! Considering the academic commitments of the students marketing Club has tried to keep the tasks simple although the essence of the event will not be compromised.  Following are the programed tasks for final round: Task 5 was titled as BrandMash (Brand Management Skills through Dubsmash). They got an opportunity to brand a product of their own choice! A task where they added creativity to their brand management skills. Adding a zing thing to the ongoing events the marketing students shot a180-200 seconds video advertising a product through Dubsmash. They recorded with precision and expertise. An element of creativity and showbiz helped them to score an edge over the others. Every business endeavor targets a certain clientele, and good advertising goes a long way in keeping them engrossed. "BANDIT" BUZZ CONTINUED…

Marketing skills cannot be implemented in isolation. Feeling of Empathy shows concern towards a genuine cause. Thus 4 teams undertook the cause of doing a street play which featured a different  cause. In continuation with weeklong exciting events by Brandits Club an interesting street play was performed by Team B, The Phantoms on keeping the surrounding spick and span. The theme was `action speaks louder than words’.  While it drizzled, it did not deter the spirit of Team B, the Phantoms and they performed in the amphitheater. The message conveyed by them was that dirt can be disgusting if it is scattered randomly or aimlessly. It was incredible to find students communicating through sign language till 1.30 pm. The unflinching support of their Professor, Dr Benny Godwin J motivated the Marketing students immensely. It was important for every team to actively participate in the street play. AMALGAMATION OF CIM, LAVASA AND CIM, GAZIABAD AT CHRIST INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, LAVASA

Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa warmly welcomed 41 students from CIM, Gaziabad. From 6th to  10th August 2018  they will be a part of campus connect initiative and CIM, Lavasa will engage them academically, socially and creatively. Fr. Jossy, Fr. Arun, Prof. Akhil, Prof. Binu, Prof. Arpita, Prof. Jobin, Prof. Jyothi, Prof. Ashish and Prof Vineet Gupta will interact with them meaningfully. The need of the hour is to understand the teaching methodology, live projects, placement opportunities and much more through such interactions. The days are planned with an even mixture of academic and co-curricular activities. The morning sessions will focus on conceptual skills and imparting technical skills. Afternoon sessions will start with Industry Domain Knowledge discussions in mentoring groups, followed by recreation and games in the evening. CSA(Center for Social Action) Venture

Students of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa have imbibed the values of Excellence and Service in all walks of life. Marketing students undertook the task of Social Service under the banner of CSA.  On Wednesday, 1st August 2018, as part of CSA initiative, Rohan, Torani, Vinay from Seniors, Eric, Anish and Esther from Juniors went to Government School, situated at 12th Road, Hill View Street, near Shiva temple. Young Christies briefed them about basic education and interacted with the students of that school. As a fun activity they conductetd some interactive games such as Dumb charades, Simon says, 7 up and Finding colours. The overall effort was to develop their inter personal skills regarding group coordination along with individual participation. It was noticed that they were proactive and had the potential to learn new things with a great deal of enthusiasm. The campus of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa is buzzing with activities and events by Marketing students. As part of a week long venture the activities began with a flash mob and it has set the scene successfully.  "Brandit" is creating waves on the campus and everyone is enthusiastic about it. The thumb rule of marketing tactics is to grab the attention of the public.They have made an impressive start and now everyone is looking forward to the exciting events this week. Task one is aptly entitled 'Sell Hard & Prosper'. It will showcase their art of convincing people to buy their products. Good communication skills in collaboration with the art of selling a product in an innovative way will be tried and tested. The instructions were clearly mentioned at the beginning. A total of 8 booklets, consisting of 50 tickets per booklet, were given to each team. Each team should sell a minimum of 400 tickets costing Rs 10 each. Points for this

CORPORATE TALK WITH A DIFFERENCE

As an initiative by Human Resource Department there was a talk by Mr. Dhananjay Bhole, Coordinator, Advanced Technology Blind Student’s Learning Centre at University of Pune. The centre is an extension of Department of Education and Extension, University of Pune. His area of expertise lies in development and strategic planning, coordination of assistive technology training program and accessibility research programs at University of Pune especially for persons with visual disabilities. He initiated several important projects for welfare of education of visually challenged at the Centre. Mr Bhole is the First visually challenged student in Asia who has done B.Sc. (Botany) and a postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics. He received "Vocational excellence award 2010" by Rotary Club of Poona and it is given to people with disabilities but have exceptional abilities. FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AT CIM, LAVASA

9th July 2018 marked the beginning of a Faculty Development Program at Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa by AICTE for teaching staff from 40 engineering colleges in Western Maharashtra. The eventful 7 day program was held from 9th to 15th July 2018.  The aim of this maiden venture by AICTE  was to orient and empower teachers to conduct Student Induction Programmes in their respective colleges. These Student Induction Programmes would thereby help students to adapt to college life, set goals for themselves, get along well with their fellow students, live in harmony with their surroundings and  develop themselves into better individuals. This program was a sequel to the 3 day program which was held from 26th to 28th June 2018. Mr. Rajesh Trivedi,   Director and CEO, Tui Consulting, Organisation Development (IOD)  & Leadership Development Consulting Organization   gave a significant talk on Organizational Development on 27 th  July 2018  in the  Smart Room . It was attended by  1 PGDM 2018-20 students. He is currently working as  HR Head at Progwell Innovations Private Limited, Mumbai. His organization was formed with a purpose of discerning and leading change for an Organization or Individual Excellence.
