4th International Symposium on Current Trends in Research and Innovation (ISCTRI’20) was organized by the Department of Data Science, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus- The Hub of Analytics in technical association with Computer Society of India (CSI) on 26th September 2020. The symposium focused on topics related to Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. School of Law, CHRIST Deemed to University, Lavasa Pune organized a webinar on Legal Research and Writing for Law students by Prof. Joshua M Alter, Director of Non-JD Programmes and Adjunct Professor at the Fredric G Levin College of Law, University of Florida on Monday September 14, 2020 at 6.30 pm. Prof. Joshua who has a wide range of experience of having spent time with young law students in Asia and Latin America including countries like China and India described the importance of Legal writing and Research in international law firms. He stressed upon the need to learn the correct forms of learning to write in a legal parlance to demonstrate once aptitude in understanding different aspects of law especially contracts.The students showed a very keen interest in the lecture and also had an inter action with the speaker.  

Glimpses from Demystifying Gender - School of Management Studies.

  A program on Gender Sensitization was organised by the Department of Management Studies, on the topic “Demystifying Gender”. The Chief guest for the event was Ms. Aamna Sultan, Chief Learning Officer, Ureka Education .Ms. Aamna was Academic Affairs Director at Ureka Education and one of its co-founders with more than 16 years of experience in industry and academics. She holds the unique distinction of being the first woman employee of a top 50 Saudi listed company, Yanbu Cement Company, where she was instrumental in establishing the Management Information Systems women’s department and was the torch bearer for women being employed by the company. She has worked with professionals and students hailing from various parts of the world and from diverse professional and personal backgrounds. The Constitutional Law Committee under the Student Bar Association, School of Law of Christ (Deemed to be University), Lavasa on Monday conducted “Garv- Hamari Rashtra Bhasha Hindi” on account of Hindi Diwas. This event was conducted on 14th September 2020 (04:00 PM to 06:00 PM).  Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy George Dean and Director of Christ (Deemed to be University), Lavasa, inaugurated the event. The chief guest for this event, Mr. Rajeev Acharya, who is a retired Rajasthan Administrative Servant (RAS) and an eminent theatre personality, addressed the students regarding the importance and diversity of the Hindi language. This was scheduled on 15th September 2020 (9:30am -11:30am). The Speaker for this session was Dr Bhavani MR, who is the Principal of Surana College, Bangalore. The Synergy Club, Department of Commerce and Management Association of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa organized a webinar on the topic "Organic Farming -how and why we can eliminate toxicants'' .The webinar was conducted on 5th September 2020 highlighted major aspects of how organic vegetables could be grown at our homes.The webinar was led by Mr Satyam Jha , an organic horticulturist and the founder of Sprouted Jungle, which majorly works on upcycling and organic farming. He conducts various workshops to spread awareness on sustainable farming and harm prevalent in chemical-based farming.  As the session commenced, the speaker enlightened everyone about the difference between normal vegetables and organic vegetables. The Expert Talk was scheduled on 14th September 2020 (9:30am -11:30pm), conducted on the Cisco WebEx platform. The speaker for the session, Mr. Banerjee is currently working with Apollo Gleneagles Hospital as a Senior Executive in Insurance. He has invaluable experience in branding and marketing as well as he started his career in that field. FETE DE LA NOMOS 2020 NATIONAL VIRTUAL INDIVIDUAL DEBATE COMPETITION- VOX TUSSLE (SEPTEMBER, 02-03 2020) Following the two successful events of the online fest Fete de La Nomos 2020 (National Virtual Law Fest) it was now the turn for the last event, the Individual Debate competition- `VOX TUSSLE`. Student Bar Association along with the Debating committee conducted the virtual competition under the leadership of Dr. Sunil John. The Legal Debate invited participants from across the nation. The debate was conducted on the Oxford Format. For being qualified to the quarter finals the participants had to send videos of them speaking on the topic which was given, i.e. – “MODERN POLITICS HAS BEEN POISONED BY MEDIA CORPORATIONS.” The best speakers were chosen who were 20 in number and were qualified to the Quarter finals. FETE DE LA NOMOS 2020 NATIONAL VIRTUAL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION (August, 18 2020- August, 20 2020) Following the inauguration of Fete de La Nomos 2020, National Virtual Law Fest. Student bar association along with the organizing committee of ‘Fete De La Nomos 2020’ conducted a virtual Mock Trial competition that invited participants from across the nations. The competition was based on a mock trial problem drafted by Chhavi Pathak and Lavanya Garg and was vetted by Adv. Ameya Kadkade. It dealt with the intricacies of criminal law with regard to conspiracy, murder, and rules of evidence. FETE DE LA NOMOS 2020 - THE MEDIATION-NEGOTIATION COMPETITION

FETE DE LA NOMOS 2020 THE MEDIATION-NEGOTIATION COMPETITION (August 26, 2020- August 31, 2020) The Students’ Bar Association of the School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus virtually organized a Mediation-Negotiation competition on a National level under the flagship of Fete de la Nomos, from August 26th, 2020 to August 31st, 2020. Ritika Kohli, Neelangshu Bagchi and Reonia Mathew drafted the med-neg case and lead the event along with the other students under the guidance of Ms. Mehak Vohra supported by Ms. Amrutha Valavi and Dr. Sunil John. The Negotiation and Mediation Problems was vetted by Adv. Swati Jain, Khaitan& Co. and Adv. Gokul, Asian CyberLaw. 24 teams participated from 22 different esteemed law colleges in India. This was scheduled on 3rd September 2020 (11:30am -1:30pm) and 7 th  September 2020 (2:00pm -4:00 pm). The Constitutional Law Studies Committee of Student Bar Association, of the School of Law held the Valedictory ceremony of “Sankalp- an ode to self-reliance” on August 27, 2020. The event has been organised as a mark of celebration of our country’s 74th Independence Day. The Valedictory Ceremony commenced with the welcome address by the Head of the Department of School of Law, Prof. Dr. Daisy Alexander. It continued with the briefing of all four competitions of the programme by their respective event heads viz. Ms. D Monalisha Rao, Ms. Shreejee Chaudhary, Ms. Satarupa Goswami and Mr. Shubham Singh. The Valedictory address was delivered by the Hon’ble Director  Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy. P George and declared the results of the competitions.   The 74th Independence Day was celebrated at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa campus on 15th August 2020 amidst the pandemic through the Cisco Webex platform. The programme was attended by the students and faculty from their home. The Independence Day programme was organised by the Constitutional Legal Studies Committee of the Student bar Association of the School of Law. The National Flag was hoisted by our Hon’ble Director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy. P. George followed by the rendition of the National Anthem in the presence of our Academic Coordinator Fr. Dr. Arun Antony and the Heads of the various Schools. The Hon’ble Director addressed e-gathering.  The school of Law students presented the speeches of the Day reminding us the sacrifices by our great leaders for the freedom and prosperity of our Nation.
