STUDENTS BOOTCAMP WORKSHOP: " Art of Analysing Business Cases"


The School of Commerce, Finance & Accountancy of CHRIST (deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa, campus conducted a workshop on " Art of Analysing Business Cases". This was scheduled on 3rd September 2020 (11:30am -1:30pm) and 7th September 2020 (2:00pm -4:00 pm). The Speaker for this session was Dr Geetha M Rajaram, who is Principal & Director of Global Institute of Management Sciences, Bangalore. She is trained for case method teaching at IIM Ahmedabad Organised BY Harvard Business Publishing.







The agenda for Day 01 of the workshop commenced with understanding the basics of case study analysis, which included the logical purpose to comprehend the levels of learning, its impact and the types of situational cases bound by time constraints, incomplete information and conflicting goals. The speaker had explained the initial steps of analysis by associating it with protagonist, goal and time constraints and took instances from movies like lagaan, Bahubali etc. This allowed the students to capture the plot of the story with respective protagonists and antagonists. The mechanics of case study analysis was explained to the students with an illustration of a sample case “Robinhood”. This was the most interactive part of the session wherein students were told to analyse the reasons and the speaker had transformed the augmented reality to a real-life business problem which brought a clear picture about skill requirements for solving business case studies.



                                

Take home case assignment was the overnight task given for students where a case study on UMART had to be analysed with solutionsThe day 02 commenced with revising the concepts followed by an interactive analysis session wherein A UMART Business case was analysed considering various factors like environment, market analysis, customer base. The students were actively engaged by the facilitator’s thought-provoking questions and had prepared presentations of case study. All the students had put their view points on the same. Later on, the complete solution of the case study was discussed. The speaker of the session guided the students about the principles that needs to be kept in mind while approaching and solving different business cases. The session ended with the Questions and experience from the audience followed by vote of thanks by Ms Anantha Lakshmi.
