`The Primis Moot Court Competition’ Conducted For First-Year Law Students


It was a proud moment for the School of Law, Christ University, Lavasa to conduct ‘The Primis Moot Court Competition’ for first-year students of Law on 12thJanuary 2020.  The event was conceptualized by Head of the Department, Dr. Daisy Alexander and participation by students marked the inception of mooting culture in the School of Law, which is mandatory for every Law student as a Freshman.

The event was graced by a team of legal practitioners from various law firms and independent practitioners of the High Court of Bombay as the esteemed panel of judges. The panel of judges for the moot court included Solicitor Kamlesh Kharade, Solicitor Kamni Ahuja, Adv. Yuvaraj Singh, Adv. Sajal Yadav, Adv. Mathew Antony, Adv. Harsh Buch, Adv. Vikram Kamath, Adv Ahtesham Thaver, Adv. Kiran Padalkar, Adv. Preethi Brahmania, Adv. Gokul Narayan, Adv. Kavisha Shah and Adv. Prashant Uchil along with esteemed faculty members namely  Dr. Sunil John, Mr. Nishit Chaki, Ms. Adya Antya, and Dr. Alpana Akolkar.

The Moot Court preliminary rounds commenced at 12:30 pm and was conducted in eight courtrooms which had been arranged impeccably within the classrooms of the campus. Each courtroom had two assigned judges to adjudge the students based on their memorials and performance. The proceedings and etiquettes were well maintained as mooting is a new field of practice that has been introduced to first-year law aspirants. It is simultaneously a significant fragment from the perspective of academics, co-curricular as well as practical applicability that may arise later in their career.

 The 32 teams that participated comprised of the entire student body of the School of Law, wherein the top eight teams were acknowledged and appreciated for their efforts and exemplary presentation. The valedictory function was a grand event wherein the guests addressed the students. Further, an interactive session was conducted and the students actively interacted with the dignitaries.


  Director & Dean, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Lavasa Campus, Dr Fr Jossy George graced the occasion by felicitating the judges and extending a note of appreciation. School of Law is grateful to Dr Fr Jossy for his wholehearted cooperation and appreciation. Ms Reonia Mathew, student Convener of the Moot Court Society proposed a vote of thanks. The students found it a great learning experience and felt that the session taught them the nuances of a moot court. The entire activity was held in high spirits and exhibited positivity and exuberance.

    A conveyancing solicitor Cork charges fees depending upon the services you need, location, and reputation of a solicitor. But it doesn't mean that if someone charges high then they are a good solicitor or charge low they are wrong.
