Using ICT For Class Room Teaching


The Quality Improvement Program spanned three days and covered various topics related to digital pedagogy, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, information security, and Smart Board integration. The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Ayushi Sadana and included guest speaker Mr. Mukund Nadgowda.

Day 1 of the event began with a welcome address by Ms. Ayushi Sadana, Assistant Professor, School of Law. The guest, Mr. Mukund Nadgowda, was introduced by Mr. Chetan Dixit. The first session focused on digital pedagogy, addressing issues related to teaching and learning in the digital realm. Topics covered included infrastructure, hardware and software, ethical considerations in e-learning, resource support online and offline, assessment and evaluation, and the impact of social, political, and cultural factors. The session also discussed pedagogical aspects such as content, audience, goals, design, and methods, highlighting the wide scope for e-learning in India. The session concluded with a discussion on the side effects of e-learning.

The rest of the day was dedicated to training provided by Mr. Mukund Nadgowda. Participants learned various practical skills, including table calculations, inserting pictures in Word, using bookmarks, mail merge, data merging, and selective printing.

On day 2, the Quality Improvement Program started with a welcome address by Ms. Shivani, followed by the first session conducted by Mr. Mukund Nadgowda on utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint effectively. The session covered basic guidelines for creating professional presentations, emphasizing consistency in font styles, colors, and formatting. Participants learned about the importance of clear and concise content, as well as the use of visuals to enhance understanding. Common mistakes in PowerPoint presentations were highlighted, and online resource platforms like Visme, Canva, and Infogram were introduced.


The second session focused on Microsoft Excel and its useful features for data analysis and presentation. Participants received hands-on training on creating charts and graphs, performing calculations, managing data, and using functions. Important Excel concepts such as relative reference, absolute reference, pivot tables, and concatenate functions were explained in detail. Participants learned about additional functions like SUMIF and gained practical insights into their application.

The third session delved into considerations for information security and cyber-crimes, along with dos and don'ts in the digital world. Mukund Nadgowda discussed the distinction between safety and security, the principles of information security, cryptographic terminologies, internet ethics, and measures to prevent cyber-crimes affecting women and children. The session emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical behavior, respecting privacy, and using technology responsibly.

Day 3 focused on introducing and exploring the functionalities of a Smart Board in the classroom. Dr. Aashieq Cherian provided an overview of the Smart Board's interactive features, such as touch-screen capability, digital ink, and multimedia integration. Participants learned how to utilize the Smart Board for interactive lessons, collaborative activities, and multimedia presentations. The session showcased the benefits of increased student engagement and visual representations in the learning process.

Overall, the Quality Improvement Program provided participants with valuable insights into digital pedagogy, effective use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, information security, and the integration of Smart Boards in the classroom. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Mukund Nadgowda and other expert speakers, and participants expressed appreciation for the knowledge shared. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants equipped with new skills and ideas to enhance their teaching and learning experiences.
