Anti-Ragging Street Play

On August 18, 2023, the Centre for Social Action (CSA) collaborated seamlessly with the Centre for Counseling and Health Services (CCHS) to orchestrate a captivating and

impactful Nukkad Natak, marking the celebration of Anti-Ragging Week. The central objective of this event was to not only illuminate the University's comprehensive Anti-Ragging policies but also to delve deeply into the profound repercussions of ragging, while imparting essential insights into the concrete measures and actions taken by the

university to address this pressing issue. The Nukkad Natak was a remarkable display of coordination and commitment, orchestrated by a dedicated ensemble of volunteers drawn from the passionate ranks of the Drishti wing. Comprising eight spirited individuals, this team of volunteers brought their collective energy and creativity to the Central Block Quadrangle, where the event unfolded at the stroke of 1:00 PM. This strategic choice of location was pivotal, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement from students representing various academic departments. The student turnout for the event was not just encouraging; it was emblematic of the student body's active commitment to fostering a campus environment entirely devoid of raging incidents. The quadrangle brimmed with an audience eager to lend their support and encouragement to the performing volunteers, creating an atmosphere of unity and collective purpose. As the event commenced, the volunteers took the stage, with their spirited performances capturing the essence of the Anti-Ragging campaign. The play not only showcased the University's commitment to preventing ragging but also delved into the personal stories of those affected by this scourge. The volunteers portrayed the harrowing experiences of victims and the anguish their families endured. What made this Nukkad Natak particularly effective was its relatability. It struck a chord with the audience, effectively raising awareness about the Anti-Ragging policies and procedures meticulously implemented by the university. Spectators were not just passive observers; they were drawn into the narrative, reflecting on the impact of their actions on their peers.

Furthermore, the Nukkad Natak kindled a profound sense of responsibility and vigilance within the student community. It empowered them to take proactive measures against ragging, fostering a culture where every student felt responsible for the safety and well-being of their peers. The play vividly illustrated that ragging is not just a violation of rules but a serious infringement on the dignity and emotional well-being of individuals. The event was not limited to the Nukkad Natak alone. It incorporated interactive segments where students could engage with counselors and university officials. This provided a platform for students to ask questions, seek guidance, and clarify doubts regarding the university's Anti-Ragging policies and the steps they could take to report incidents. One notable presence during the event was Ms. Arpita Gosh, the esteemed Senior Counselor and CCHS Coordinator. Her team of dedicated professionals provided invaluable support throughout the event. Their presence added a layer of expertise and reassurance, demonstrating the university's commitment to the emotional and psychological well-being of its students. In summation, the Nukkad Natak event for Anti-Ragging Awareness, a collaborative masterpiece by CSA and CCHS, transcended expectations as it flawlessly achieved its primary objectives. It succeeded in elevating awareness about the university's Anti-Ragging policies and cultivating a more responsible, vigilant, and compassionate student body. The resounding success of this event serves as a testament to the power of collaborative action and the profound impact it can have on our academic community. Students left the event not only with a heightened awareness of the consequences of ragging but also with a deep sense of empathy and responsibility toward their peers. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to all participants and supporters, including the esteemed Campus Director, for generously allowing us to host this impactful event on campus. We believe that this event marks just the beginning of a journey towards a safer, more inclusive, and ragging-free campus environment.
