Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025-26 for the final-year students of MSc Data Science and MSc Global Finance & Analytics
The event commenced promptly at 8:00 AM in the presence of campus leadership, including Fr. Lijo Thomas, Dean and Director, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus; Fr. Justin P. Varghese, Academic Coordinator; and Fr. Arun Antony Chully, Director of CHRIST College, Pune. Faculty members and an enthusiastic cohort of final-year students from both programmes were also in attendance. The ceremony opened with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance through the light of knowledge. Readings from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, and the Holy Quran followed, reflecting CHRIST University’s commitment to inclusivity and multicultural harmony. A brief session of closing prayers was conducted, invoking blessings for a purposeful academic journey, and concluded with the CHRIST Anthem, reinforcing unity and institutional pride.
Fr. Lijo Thomas delivered an inspiring inaugural address centred on the theme of the academic year — “Change is Growth.” He encouraged students to embrace change not as disruption but as a vehicle for transformation. His words offered both motivation and perspective as students prepared to transition into professional roles. Fr. Justin P. Varghese also extended his warm wishes and outlined the expectations for the final year, reinforcing the institution’s vision of shaping not only skilled professionals but also socially responsible citizens.
Following the inauguration, students participated in the Industry Spotlight Session, featuring guest speaker Ms. Shubha Kumar, Chief Risk & Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Facilities at Zensar Technologies. A distinguished industry leader with over two decades of experience, Ms. Kumar shared valuable insights on career growth, sustainability, and leadership. Quoting Michelangelo — “I am still learning” — she impressed upon students the importance of continuous learning and self-evolution.
