On July 19, 2025, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, successfully conducted an insightful session titled “Do’s and Don’ts of the Corporate World & Resume Building.” The session was facilitated by Mr. Harshad Sabne, Talent Acquisition Lead at CDK Global, and was designed to provide practical strategies for students aspiring to enter the professional world with confidence and clarity.
The session began with an engaging discussion on the
foundational step of career building: resume development. Mr. Sabne emphasized
that a well-structured, clear, and compelling resume can open doors to new
opportunities. He guided students on how to effectively present their contact
information, professional summary, educational background, and both technical
and soft skills. A strong emphasis was laid on quantified achievements and
relevant certifications, which help resumes stand out in a competitive job
market. Interestingly, Mr. Sabne advised students to include personal
interests, unique academic projects, and volunteering experiences to create a
more holistic and well-rounded profile. These elements, he shared, reflect
character, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively—qualities highly
valued in any workplace.
Transitioning from resume writing to the corporate environment, Mr. Sabne offered thoughtful guidance on navigating the expectations of today’s dynamic workplaces. He spoke about the importance of professionalism, punctuality, adaptability, and transparent communication as the pillars of success in any organizational setting. He highlighted that while technical expertise is important, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence often determine long-term career success. He urged students to develop a learning mindset, remain open to feedback, and actively seek out opportunities for self-improvement. Respecting the organizational culture, fostering teamwork, and demonstrating integrity and ethical conduct were cited as essential practices for earning trust and credibility within professional spaces.
One of the most appreciated aspects of the session was Mr. Sabne’s candid approach to discussing mental health and well-being in the workplace. He emphasized that sustained productivity and career growth are only possible when individuals feel mentally and emotionally balanced. He encouraged students to prioritize their well-being, manage stress effectively, and aim for a healthy work-life balance from the outset of their careers. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively engaged with the speaker and sought personalized advice. Overall, the event was rich with real-world insights, practical tips, and motivational advice that resonated with every attendee.
The session not only addressed the technicalities of resume
writing and job readiness but also instilled a deeper understanding of how to
grow as ethical, adaptable, and resilient professionals. It was a valuable
experience that empowered students to step forward with greater awareness and
confidence as they prepare to begin their professional journeys.
