Darpan’19


Christites are creative, gifted and exhibit their passion and talent whenever an opportunity comes their way. A wide array of events has been scheduled for young budding artists to showcase their caliber and win awards and recognition under the banner of Darpan’19.



The inauguration of this intra collegiate fest began on 19th August 2019 with a lot of promise in Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. The team leaders of various group events had already registered their teams through a link that was shared with them. The details about the events and their rules and regulations are as follows:



RANGOLI


Ø  3 members per team.

Ø  Themes will be given on the spot.

Ø  Use of sieve is allowed.

Ø  Geometrical instruments not allowed.

Ø  The design size should not exceed 3 square feet in dimension

Ø  Color powders should be brought by the participant.

Ø  Time: 1:30 hrs.

CARTOONING

Ø  Individual event.

Ø  Topic will be given on the spot.

Ø  Only chart paper will be provided.

Ø  Only black and white cartoons to be made.

Ø  Only Black Pencils to be used

Ø  Duration: 2 hrs.

INDIAN DANCE CLASSICAL (SOLO)


Ø  Time: 4+1 mins on stage.

Ø  Only Authentic Classical music/song to be used.

Ø  No film songs will be allowed.

INDIAN DANCE GROUP: NON THEME (FILM / FOLK)

Ø  No fusion of songs (single song to be used).

Ø  The songs must have lyrics.

Ø  Only Indian Film songs to be used.             

Ø  Minimum props will be allowed.

Ø  No fire on stage, No vulgarity in costume, movements or lyrics. 

Ø  Time: 5 + 1 mins. On stage.

INDIAN DANCE GROUP: NON THEME (FILM / FOLK)

Ø  No fusion of songs (single song to be used).

Ø  The songs must have lyrics.

Ø  Only Indian Film songs to be used.             

Ø  Min 6 and max 12 members in a team

Ø  Minimum props will be allowed.

Ø  No fire on stage, No vulgarity in costume, movements or lyrics. 

Ø  Time: 5 + 1 mins. On stage.

WESTERN ACAPELLA MUSIC (GROUP)

Ø  Maximum 10 members per team (Including a Beat Boxer)

Ø  Minimum of 5 (Including a Beat Boxer)

Ø  Medleys are not allowed, NO backing tracks, Samples or Sequences allowed.

Ø  Only ONE accompanist is allowed (Judging criteria will not include accompanist performance but voices and beat box only) that is Keyboard allowed in Piano mode only, Plug in Acoustic guitar or Acoustic percussion instruments (Anyone) like Cajon or Djembe are allowed.

Ø  Time: 10 + 2 mins. (Time includes Entry and Exit stage)

DUMB CHARADES (DC)

Ø  3 members per team

Ø  No spelling, rhyming, splitting, etc.

Ø  Preliminary rounds to be decided by the judges (E.g. People, Movies, Etc.)

JAM


Ø  JAM master decides rounds.

Ø  8-9 participants are panelists who bang on the table if an error is committed, list out the error and speak if the JAM master agrees with the person.

Ø  +5 for correct correction, -5 for wrong correction, +10 for every 5 seconds the participant speaks. Additional points for getting the buzzer at the end of the minute.  No participant is eliminated during the course of JAM.

Ø  Judged on clarity, content, presentation, relevance to the topic & language.

Ø  Participants lose points on late start, early start, speech defect, grammatical error.

Ø  Time: 2 hours

PHOTOGRAPHY

Ø  Individual event.

Ø  3 photos depicting the theme should be submitted in soft copy in a pen drive.

Ø  50 to 100-word description about each of the photos. Also give credit, if any.

Ø  Photos to be shot in campus only.

Ø  Theme will be put up on notice board two days in advance.

Ø  Photos are to be taken after the theme is announced.

Ø  The photos can be taken in either mobiles or DSLR.

Ø  The filenames should be in the format “name_reg_theme1”, “name_reg_theme2”, “name_reg_theme3” respectively. All the submissions which are not in the preferred formats will be disqualified.

Ø  No submissions are accepted after the given time.

Ø  No selfies/groupies are allowed for the competition.

MASK MAKING

Ø  A 3 Dimensional mask relevant to the theme

Ø  Card board sheets and strings will be provided

Ø  Other materials required for the competition to be brought by the participants

Ø  2 members per team

Ø  Time: 2 hrs.

AIR CRASH

Ø  Individual event

Ø  This is an informal event, where participants are assigned a character and put in a situation depicting an aircraft that is about to crash.

Ø  The goal of the participant is to convince the captain of the aircraft to give him/her the only parachute on board.

Ø  Participants shall be judged on spontaneity, humor and wit.

Ø  No vulgarity of any sort shall be entertained.

Indian Folk and film Singing (Solo) & Western Singing (Solo)

Ø  For the above solo music events, only ONE accompanist is allowed.

Ø  Keyboard only in Piano mode or Acoustic guitar

Ø  Indian percussion Instruments for Indian Solo Singing events like Tabla, Mrudangam may be used.

Ø  Western Acoustic Percussion Instruments for Western Solo and Western Instrumental Solo events like Djembe or Cajon may be used.

Ø  Only 1 song. No medleys.

Ø  No sequenced beats/Samples or Backing tracks allowed.

Ø  Registrations for the above mentioned Solo Music Events will be only at the SWO and no on spot registrations

INDIAN CLASSICAL SOLO Singing


Ø  Only one entry per Institution is allowed.

Ø  Duration of performance: 10 minutes.

Ø  Time for stage/ instruments setting is maximum 5 minutes.

Ø  Maximum number of accompanists is two.

Ø  Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Karnatak style.

Ø  Cinema songs are not allowed.

Ø  Sufficient care and thought must be exercised in the choice of raga and composition.

Ø  Judgment is based on the qualities like tal, selection of raga, composition and overall impression.

INDIAN MUSIC (Group)

Ø  Time: 10 + 2 mins (Entry to Exit Stage, Including setup)

Ø  Maximum 10 members per team.

Ø  Minimum of 5 members

Ø  Maximum of 3 songs within time limit.

Ø  Drum kit will be provided.

Ø  Octopad or equivalent allowed

Ø  One Indian instrument compulsory.

Ø  No sequencing/Samples or Backing tracks allowed.

MIME

Ø  Maximum 8 members per team.

Ø  Vulgarity and obscenity in movement strictly prohibited.

Ø  Time: 7 + 1 mins.

Ø  The use of props is not allowed.

Ø  Music to accompany mime may be live (single instrument), or pre-recorded.

WESTERN MUSIC (GROUP)

Ø  Maximum 8 members per team.

Ø  Minimum of 3 members per team (Must Include a vocalist).

Ø  Growling is NOT allowed.

Ø  NO backing tracks, Samples or Sequences allowed.

Ø  A Standard 5 Piece Drum kit will be provided.

Ø  Time: 10 + 2 mins. (Time includes Entry and Exit stage).

SPLIT SCREEN DUO


Ø  2 members per team

Ø  Each team is given 4 Minutes on stage

Ø  No Fusion of Music

Ø  Only Indian dance forms (including Bollywood, contemporary) are allowed

Ø  Western Dance forms and English songs are not allowed

Ø  Judges will divide the team members into 2 and 2 dancers who will be on the either side of the stage which is divided by a screen in the middle.

Ø  The event tests the coordination skills of the dancers and the choreography.

Ø  Costumes are an important factor. The dancers have to be uniformly dressed

Ø  Vulgarity of any sort will lead to immediate disqualification.

Short Film


Ø  The theme should be strictly based on Patriotism.

Ø  The time limit for the video is 3-5 minutes including credits.

Ø  There is no limit for the number of participants in the video.

Ø  There should be no vulgarity in the video.

Ø  Refrain from using disturbing political, regional or religious imagery.

Ø  The submission should be done in a pen drive before 14th August to the volunteer in-charge.
