"Exploring the Financial Foundations: A Journey through BSE and RBI Museum"

"Money, the lifeblood of economies, has a story to tell. It weaves through the annals of history, shaping civilizations and powering progress as we embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries of finance, from the bustling floors of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to the hallowed halls of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Museum."

The Department of Data Science, on the 6th of October, 2023, organized an industrial visit to the Bombay Stock Exchange and RBI Monetary Museum. The visit was initiated at 5 a.m. Students of classes 3B.Sc. DS, 3B.Sc. EA and 3M.Sc. EA had the unique opportunity to explore the financial epicentres of Mumbai for a day of discovery and insight into finance.

The curiosity about money is the intricate dance of numbers on stock market screens, the fascinating tales of economic triumphs and crises, or perhaps the foundations of financing that sustain our modern world? This visit promises a gateway to a world where history, economics, and currency flow converge. Let's uncover the intricate tapestry that binds our monetary systems and how it has shaped our world today.

The professors, Dr Vandana Bhagat and Dr. Shahid Bashir, guided the industrial visit. All the students have reached to the destination around noon, and our tour guides from PUC Publications has welcomed everybody with snacks and a journal based on the investment. After that, the students directly went towards the Bombay Stock Exchange, and on our way, where they came across the prominent places seen in various movies and shows. Afterward, the students were divided into two groups of boys and girls and went inside. GroupWise session was conducted by Dr V Aditya Srinivas from the Bombay Stock Exchange Brokers’ Forum where the information regarding the trading screens, the market's falls and rises, the market indicators, and the profitable sector to invest in. The questions session with him gave the good insights about various trading platforms, their working, foreign investment schemes, S&P, and mutual funds.

Ultimately, the students were guided on the right path to follow if we were interested in knowing more about investment.

The next destination was the RBI museum, where the students learned the history of notes, from Kings to Mahatma Gandhi, and how the picture on the currency notes has changed with the era, indicating different governments throughout the time. They could also see the actual coins, notes, and drafts from various periods and again learned the importance of currency.

Last but not least, Gateway of India was the next destination after much consideration due to time constraints. Everybody reached this popular destination at 6 p.m. and departed after an hour. Meanwhile, students enjoyed the scenic monument, the port harbor, and the Hotel Taj. We enjoyed our time by having our memories captured in cameras, visions, and through the experience gained.

Though it was a short visit, the students have enjoyed and experienced a great time learning and exploring finance and Mumbai.
