Twine Workshop

The Department of Languages at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus organized a “Twine Workshop” on 22nd June 2023 for the Faculty members. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to Twine, a narrative/game-making software used by video game designers and digital storytellers to create interactive stories in a digital format. One of the key advantages of Twine is its accessibility, allowing users with limited coding knowledge to create engaging games and interactive narratives.

The workshop's primary objective was to equip faculty members with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively utilize Twine in their teaching practices. By embracing this technology, faculty members could enhance student engagement, foster creativity, and align their teaching methodologies with the upcoming launch of the MA English with Digital Humanities course. Mr Aaron guided the faculty members with each step and helped create an interactive story of their own using the software twine.

The workshop was structured to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Twine and its applications in both narrative creation and education. It included:

Hands-On Session:
Twine Basics:
Navigating the Twine interface.
Creating passages and links.
Adding images, text, and choices.

Interactive Storytelling:
Exploring examples of interactive narratives created using Twine.
Analyzing the impact of interactivity on storytelling.

Twine in Education:
Integrating Twine into the classroom.
Designing interactive lessons and educational games.

Conclusion: The "Twine Workshop" organized by the Department of Languages at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus was a successful endeavor in introducing faculty members to the potential of Twine as a narrative and educational tool. By providing practical insights into Twine's features and applications, the workshop empowered faculty members to enhance their teaching methods and embrace digital storytelling in the classroom. As the field of Digital Humanities continues to evolve, workshops like these play a crucial role in equipping educators with the skills necessary to adapt to changing educational landscapes.

The workshop not only expanded the participants' technological skills but also fostered a sense of community among educators interested in innovative teaching methodologies. With the knowledge gained from the workshop, the Department of Languages is better prepared to incorporate Twine into its curriculum and contribute to the growth of the MA English with Digital Humanities course.
