International Guest Visit: Dr. Gowribalan Ananda (Ana) Vamadeva


On 4th August 2025, Professor Ana visited the Pune City Campus, where he was picked up from his hotel around 12:00 P.M.. He delivered a guest lecture on Calculus and Beyond from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., followed by lunch and an interaction with faculty. He departed for his hotel at 3:00 P.M. The faculty in-charge for this visit was Dr. Libin Chacko.

On 5th August 2025, Professor Ana visited the Lavasa Campus, arriving at 10:30 A.M. where he was welcomed by PRO Mr. Javed Khan, followed by greetings from Professor Nikita, Dr. Prabhpreet Singh, and Ms. Archita. A meeting with Fr. Lijo Thomas was held, where they discussed collaboration opportunities with the University of Cincinnati, including the visiting of Emeritus Professors and promoting International Staff Week to initiate exchange programs. Key decisions included: Fr. Lijo will directly connect with the UC centre, followed up by OIA; Professor Nikita will promote Staff Week at UC. Professor Ana suggested exploring short-term faculty-led Summer/Winter School courses and excursions in 2026 or 2027. It was agreed that connections with faculty through Prof. Ana could help mobilize student participation. Fr. Lijo also referred to a meeting between Prof. Ana and the Department of Statistics and Data Science to explore potential collaborations.

Following a brief coffee break, Professor Ana interacted with the School of Sciences, coordinated by Prof. Avichal Sharma, to discuss academic collaboration. This was followed by lunch with Dr. Parameshwaran and Dr. Lija Jacob. From 1:30 to 2:30 P.M., there was a focused interaction with the Department of Statistics and Data Science, again facilitated by Prof. Avichal Sharma. At 2:30 P.M., he met with Dr. Shakeeb, Research Head, and then with Dr. Manjari Sharma from OIA. Dr. Manjari presented an overview of Student Exchange and Immersion Programs. Discussions covered bringing in Emeritus Professors, appointing Adjunct Faculty in both institutions, and initiating collaborations through guest lectures. The need to align short-term visits with ongoing projects was emphasized, and Dr. Manjari agreed to share samples of such projects.

At 3:30 P.M., a meeting with the Admissions Office (Dr. Aashiq and Ms. Mariya) focused on International Admissions. Prof. Ana suggested connecting with institutions in Sri Lanka to promote CHRIST University, given its affordability for students. A short testimonial session was organized at 4:00 P.M. with CDL’s assistance. After a brief farewell meeting with Fr. Lijo at 4:30 P.M., Professor Ana departed from the Lavasa Campus.
