FRAME WALK

The Focus photography club, in association with Lavasa Trekkers and the Centre for Digital Learning (CDL), successfully organized an experiential learning event titled “FrameWalk” on 18th October 2025 at the stunning Ekaant Sunrise Point. The event was designed to teach participants the basics of photography through trekking, combining physical activity, creative exploration, and technical skill development in a natural outdoor setting.

A total of 24 members participated in the event, which aimed to bridge classroom learning with real-world experience. The collaboration with Lavasa Trekkers ensured a safe and engaging trekking route, while CDL provided educational support by guiding participants on the fundamentals of photography and visual storytelling. The serene landscapes and changing light conditions at Lavasa offered the perfect backdrop for hands-on learning.

The day began early in the morning with an orientation session led by the faculty coordinators and representatives from both collaborating organizations. The participants were briefed on the day’s schedule, trekking guidelines, and the objectives of the photography workshop. The Lavasa Trekkers team emphasized environmental awareness, safety measures, and sustainable practices during trekking, setting a positive tone for the day’s activities.

As the group embarked on the trek toward Ekaant Sun View Point, participants were encouraged to observe their surroundings from a photographer’s perspective. The faculty mentors and CDL trainers introduced key photography concepts such as composition, framing, exposure, aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. Students were guided to experiment with different angles, lighting conditions, and subjects—ranging from natural landscapes to candid human moments during the trek.

Periodic halts along the trail provided opportunities for live demonstrations and discussions. The trainers explained techniques like the rule of thirds, leading lines, and framing through natural elements. Students were also taught how to adjust camera settings according to the available light and movement in their scenes. These practical exercises helped them understand how photography is not just about equipment but about perspective, patience, and creativity.

Upon reaching Ekaant Sun View Point, participants were rewarded with a panoramic view of Lavasa’s serene valley and lake. This breathtaking setting served as the final classroom, where everyone practiced capturing sunset tones, silhouettes, and landscape compositions. The moment also symbolized the culmination of teamwork, learning, and exploration. A group photo was taken to commemorate the successful completion of the event.

After the trek, a short reflection and feedback session was conducted. Students shared their experiences, learnings, and favorite shots from the day. Faculty members and CDL instructors provided feedback on their photographs and discussed how these skills could be further developed for creative and academic projects.

Overall, FrameWalk 2025 was a resounding success. It effectively combined education, adventure, and creativity, allowing students to learn the art of photography in a dynamic and inspiring environment. The collaboration between Lavasa Trekkers and CDL played a crucial role in ensuring that participants gained both technical knowledge and practical experience. The event concluded with enthusiasm and appreciation from all, with participants expressing a strong desire for more such experiential learning initiatives in the future.
