Interview Skill Training
The Centre for Placement and Career Guidance (CPCG), in association with the School of Business and Management (BBA), organized a two-day Interview Skill Training program on 27th and 28th September 2025 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. This session was designed exclusively for the final-year BBA students; the initiative was part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance soft skills—particularly communication and language proficiency—among students who are preparing for campus recruitment and placement drives. With the growing emphasis on employability in today’s competitive job market, the program aligned with the academic vision of equipping students with the necessary skills to transition confidently into professional roles.
The first day of the training focused on building foundational employability skills. Sessions covered teamwork and collaboration, networking strategies, effective communication, and internship search skills. These modules were highly interactive and allowed students to engage in role plays, short presentations, and peer-to-peer discussions. A strong emphasis was placed on personal branding, an area critical to creating lasting impressions during networking events and interviews. By engaging in exercises around self-presentation and articulation, students gained clarity on how to project themselves as confident and capable candidates. The trainers, Dr. Sridharan KV and Ms. Sumithra Krishnaswamy, both seasoned professionals with extensive experience in corporate training and life coaching, enriched the sessions with real-world insights and practical strategies.
The second day shifted focus toward interview-specific competencies. Students participated in simulated interview rounds and group discussions (GD), providing them with a platform to experience the dynamics of real hiring processes. Activities included mock GDs, structured feedback on body language, voice modulation, and clarity of thought, as well as online interview readiness exercises. Another important component of the day was advanced LinkedIn profile optimization, which helped students understand how to strategically showcase their academic achievements, projects, and internships on digital platforms to appeal to recruiters. These exercises were particularly beneficial, given the increasing reliance on virtual platforms for professional networking and recruitment. The training methodology was a balanced mix of theory and practice. Case studies, situational analyses, and mock drills ensured that students not only absorbed conceptual knowledge but also applied it in practical contexts. The experiential approach boosted student confidence, improved articulation, and instilled greater awareness of professional expectations. Personalized feedback from the trainers allowed students to recognize their strengths while identifying specific areas for improvement.
This program was part of a broader departmental effort to continuously enhance soft skills, especially communication and language skills, among the student body. The School of Business and Management-BBA has consistently emphasized the importance of skill-building sessions as a supplement to academic learning. By organizing targeted training programs such as this, the department ensures that final-year students are well-prepared to face placement interviews with competence and confidence. In total, 155 final-year students participated in the program, benefitting immensely from the structured training and interactive exercises. The initiative succeeded in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional readiness, leaving students better prepared to engage with recruiters during campus placements. The Interview Skill Training program not only met its objectives but also reinforced the university’s commitment to nurturing graduates who are articulate, adaptable, and industry-ready.
