Sustainability Quest -SDG Classroom Quiz
The event was entirely student-driven, led by eight enthusiastic student volunteers from the SDG Cell. Each of the volunteers prepared and presented different aspects of the SDGs before moving on to the quiz segment. Teresa Maria (25111343) began the session by giving an overview of the SDGs and their global relevance, setting the context for the discussion. Mokshit Sandhu (25111323) highlighted SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), while Yuvraj Sahal (25111347) explained SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Rajvardhan Shekhawat (25111132) elaborated on SDG 4 (Quality Education), followed by Saketh Madisetty (25111135), who shared inspiring stories of Indian change-makers working in sustainability. Umang Agarwal (25111348) emphasized the importance of SDG education and its role in shaping socially responsible citizens. Narendra Singh (25111325) provided an overview of actionable steps that students can take to integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives, and Shreyanshi Srivastava (2511112) concluded the session by summarizing the key points.
After the brief but informative presentations, the quiz was conducted in each section. The quiz was designed to be simple yet thought-provoking, testing students’ awareness of the goals and their applications in real life. Small rewards, such as chocolates, were distributed to students who gave correct answers, which created a sense of excitement and kept the momentum lively throughout the session. This gamified approach encouraged participation from all students and ensured that learning was both fun and impactful.The classroom-wise experiences varied, reflecting the unique culture of each section. Section A remained focused and attentive throughout the session, while Section B was more interactive, with active participation from several students. Section C was particularly vibrant, with high energy, fun engagement, and enthusiastic responses during the quiz. The Honors section also showcased a balance of focus and interaction, highlighting the interest of students across academic streams.
The highlights of the event included not only the enthusiastic participation of first-year students but also the confidence and leadership demonstrated by the SDG Cell student volunteers. For them, this was an enriching experience, as they were able to develop their presentation skills, strengthen teamwork, and take ownership of an important initiative. The presence of peer-led discussions made the sessions more relatable for the participants, and the inclusion of Indian case studies added a contextual dimension that resonated with the audience.
The overall experience of the event was positive and impactful. It succeeded in its primary goal of raising awareness about the SDGs among first-year students while instilling a sense of responsibility and curiosity about sustainable practices. The initiative also reinforced the commitment of the SDG Cell to foster a culture of sustainability on campus. Special mention must be made of Rajvardhan Shekhawat (25111132) and Karthik Verma (2511117), who captured the sessions through photography, preserving the enthusiasm and engagement of the students for documentation and future reflection.
In conclusion, Sustainability Quest – SDG Classroom Quiz was a meaningful and successful effort toward promoting sustainability awareness at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The initiative not only introduced students to global goals but also encouraged them to reflect on their role in achieving them. Building on this momentum, the SDG Cell plans to organize more such interactive and student-led initiatives to cultivate awareness and commitment toward sustainable development among the student community.
