Workshop on Business Intelligence & Dashboard Creation in Tableau


The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) successfully organized a highly impactful three-day workshop on Business Intelligence and Tableau for the final-year MSc Global Finance & Analytics students from 22nd September to 24th September 2025. The workshop was conducted as part of the curriculum for the course MGF584-3L: Financial Data Intelligence & Visualization. It was thoughtfully designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice, offering students an immersive experience in data visualization, analytics, and intelligent decision-making. The sessions empowered participants to convert complex datasets into meaningful visual insights, a vital skill in today’s data-driven financial environment.

The workshop was led by Mr. Kedar Puranik, Education Unit Head at Opine Group, Pune. He is a distinguished Senior Techno-functional Professional and Consulting Adviser with over 35 years of experience in the IT industry. His expertise in helping organizations derive actionable insights from data was clearly reflected in his teaching approach. Mr. Puranik not only demonstrated the technical aspects of Tableau but also emphasized the art of using data to tell impactful and persuasive stories. His sessions were appreciated for being interactive, insightful, and deeply rooted in real-world business applications.

His professional background spans across multiple domains, including ERP, CRM, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Master Data Management. He also holds strong technical proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, Oracle (Siebel) CRM, and SAP, along with functional expertise in finance, manufacturing, and supply chain management. This rich multidisciplinary experience allowed him to offer a holistic and industry-relevant perspective to the students. The workshop content was both technically robust and strategically aligned with the skill requirements of future finance professionals.

The sessions enabled students to build dynamic dashboards, interpret financial datasets, and derive actionable insights using Tableau.
