Pre-Placement Talk

The School of Business and Management (BBA) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus – “The Hub of Analytics”, organised a Pre-Placement Talk by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on October 1, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Auditorium, Management Block. The session aimed to provide final-year BBA students with valuable insights into corporate expectations, career opportunities, and recruitment processes at one of India’s largest and most reputed multinational companies.

The session began with a warm welcome to the TCS delegation, comprising Mr. Vishal Rampalle (Campus Lead, Pune Region, TCS), Mr. Sagar Motiyani (HR Recruitment Team, TCS), Ms. Rutuja Mohite (HR Recruitment Team, TCS), and Ms. Charu J. (HR Recruitment Team, TCS & Alumni, BBA Batch of 2022). The event was coordinated by Mr. Sharad Gupta, faculty member of the School of Business and Management. The presence of an alumnus from the same department added a personal and motivating dimension to the talk, helping students connect more deeply with the discussion.

The session was initiated by Mr. Vishal Rampalle, who introduced Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and shared insights into the company’s remarkable growth and global presence over the past few decades. He elaborated on how TCS continues to be a leader in technology and business solutions, offering diverse opportunities for students from business and management backgrounds. He emphasized the company’s strong foundation built on innovation, ethics, and employee development, encouraging students to see themselves as part of a dynamic global workforce.

Following this introduction, Mr. Sagar Motiyani and Ms. Rutuja Mohite from the HR team delivered an informative presentation on job roles and responsibilities available for BBA graduates within TCS. They detailed the career pathways under the Business Process Services (BPS) division, which includes roles in domains such as business operations, project coordination, client management, and analytics support. The speakers also explained the selection process, including online aptitude assessments, interviews, and pre-joining training modules.

A significant portion of the talk was dedicated to discussing the compensation structure and career progression for fresh recruits. The HR representatives presented a transparent overview of the salary packages offered, performance-based incentives, and opportunities for internal growth within TCS. This clarity helped students set realistic expectations while understanding the potential for long-term career advancement.

The session also included an interactive Q&A segment, where students raised thoughtful questions regarding the company’s current hiring policies, concerns about recent layoffs in the IT sector, and the stability of entry-level roles. The TCS team responded openly, assuring students that the organisation continues to value fresh talent and remains committed to nurturing young professionals despite market fluctuations. This open dialogue helped alleviate student apprehensions and strengthened their confidence in pursuing opportunities with TCS.

Adding a personal touch to the event, Ms. Charu J., an alumna of the 2022 BBA batch and now part of the TCS HR team, shared her experience transitioning from a student to a professional within the company. Her journey served as an inspiration, demonstrating how the academic foundation and grooming received at CHRIST University had equipped her to succeed in a competitive corporate environment.

At the conclusion of the session, interested students were invited to register for the upcoming TCS placement drive. They were asked to submit their CVs and photographs for consideration, marking the beginning of their formal engagement with the recruitment process. The event successfully achieved its objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry by equipping students with first-hand corporate insights and encouraging them to take proactive steps in their career planning.

Overall, the Pre-Placement Talk by TCS proved to be highly informative, interactive, and motivational. It not only enhanced students’ understanding of corporate hiring processes but also inspired confidence among them to pursue meaningful professional roles after graduation.
