Magnificat is associated with the canticle of Mary, which is a song of hope. As it resonates with the theme of Christmas, hence the event was aptly entitled as `Magnificat’. The first entertaining activity was to pin the snowman’s nose. One participant was blindfolded and guided by his partner to put the nose at the right place. It was brilliantly played by Group Captain J K Pandey and his partner Mr Mahindra and then it was superbly played by Akhil Laul and Assistant Professor Soumya V. It displayed perfect coordination between the players as one gave exact directions only to be followed strictly. It was fun to watch a lively performance. It was followed by a melodious invocation choir by Akash, Eric, Sephora on synthesizer, Alwin and Esther.
Father Abraham addressed the gathering and conveyed the Christmas message. Fr Abraham felt nostalgic and said that Christmas is a time of giving and spreading joy and cheerfulness. The happiness will not come from outside but it is within everyone. He further said that the divine is within us. Jesus has descended on earth in human form as a messenger of God. Christmas is the time to express love, inspire others as one forgives and forgets. Fr Abraham further reiterated that one can feel the quietness in your heart not by instinct but by a divine power. The Christmas message was to touch everyone's heart and
send and receive blessings. He further wished that may all wishes and dreams come true and everyone feels happiness throughout the year.
After a heart rendering message by Fr Abraham there was an invocation dance by karishma and Smriti. It was very graceful and rejuvenated the ambiance.
In between there was an interesting quiz by the anchors pertaining to facts about Christmas. The quiz was enlightening and suited the occasion. The audience participation was note worthy and it exhibited their knowledge and interest. It was won by Joel, Dojo, Akhil and Josphin.
Then Jessy, Harsha, Shobhith, Smriti, Eric, Esther along with Assistant Professor Ashish Wilson sang some carols. Popular songs such as Silver Bells, Joy To The World etc reverberated in the Fortune Grounds. The melodious performance by CIM choir mesmerized everyone.
The Mime performance was excellently coordinated and it conveyed the message in an impressive way. It was a sensitive portrayal of the spirit of Christmas which focuses on giving and sharing.
The next activity was equally interesting and fascinating. Shraiya and Sanchit had everyone in splits when one had to guess an item in a magical box through dumb charade. Pulkit, Nikita and Ms Madhu from Ashiana Housing Society participated enthusiastically in another fun filled activity. It was won by Ms Madhu.
It was time to listen to beautifully sung Christmas carols by Fr Shinto's Choir, Heavenly Crystal Choir, Nursing Ministry, Pune.
Next, the dance performance had a tinge of surprise. Sagar dressed as Santa led the team and everyone grooved to the beats of Jingle Bells! Aadhvika, the CIM dance team gave a brilliant performance. They twisted and twirled and moved to the beats of popular tunes in order to bring novelty to their dance moves. It enthused a spark of energy and everyone joined the dance floor.
Then Director, Fr Jossy, Fr Arun, Fr Abraham and Mr Chaturvedi came and cut the traditional Christmas cake. The exciting evening had plenty of pleasant moments full of surprise. Randomly lucky numbers were picked up and the winners got a surprise gift by Santa himself.
Mr Abijeeth Chaturvedi, General Manager- ITC Fortune Hotel, Dasve, Lavasa wished everyone Merry Christmas and wished that the new year brings in lots of hope and blessings to the residents of Lavasa. May the beautiful city succeed in facing all challenges and revive the lost glory.
As evening descended the exciting evening ended on a cheerful note and everyone had a beaming smile on their faces. A gift and a Christmas cap was given to each and everyone as a gift. The event was coordinated by Esther Stephan as cultural head and Madan was in charge of promotions. The entire program was wonderfully and eloquently anchored by Madhulika and Ann Landis under the guidance of Assistant Professor Akhil and Assistant Professor Jyothi. The IT team and logistics support made the event a grand success.
Red and white balloons, artistically decorated Christmas tree, chairs arranged systematically, apt music to suit the occasion, organizing committee members moving around briskly in red T shirts attending everyone and handling every situation with aplomb, smart and stylish anchors, beginning the program on time etc were the highlights of a fantastic fun filled evening.
