Law Aspirants Take Part In Debate

School of Law is scaling new heights slowly and gradually as the students take part in various activities. The enthusiastic students are going beyond Lavasa and gaining valuable experience through outstation visits. Selected students from the School of Law, CHRIST, Lavasa took part in an interactive debate held by All India Professional Congress (AIPC), Maharashtra. The event took place at St Paul's Institute of Communication & Education (SPICE), Bandra West, Mumbai. The students were accompanied by Dr. Daisy Alexander, HOD and Dr. Sunil John from School of Law, CHRIST, Lavasa Campus. The session was handled by Mr. Sanjay Jha and Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai primarily focusing on the topic “Maharashtra Politics” with reference to Rajdeep Sardesai's book entitled "2019 How Modi won India". A Positive Beginning

As the year is about to end placements have begun on a positive note at CIML. All the second-year students of management are geared up and earnestly looking forward to Skype interviews or personal interaction with companies or firms and prove their caliber in a field of their specialization. Their mentors, fellow students, parents, and CRM are encouraging them to put their best and prove themselves. Here is an account of the selected few who have made it and done the college proud by their accomplishments. Sijo Saju John will join Tata Elxsi in the marketing and sales department after graduating from CIML. He feels elated about being selected by such a reputed company in the first attempt. He considers it to be a good start. Sijo is aware of the work culture at Tata Elxsi and aims to contribute to the company in a positive way. His parents are proud of his selection and bless him for a successful tenure. Sijo thanks Dr. Benny Godwin for his guidance and persistent support.

An Incredible Learning Experience Amidst Nature

Marketing students of CIML will visit Eco- Village on 7 th December 2019 as part of CIA-3 activity. The overnight stay at the resort intends to offer a great learning experience. As per the instructions each group has to make an infomercial/ promotional video of Eco-Village which could be shown to the potential target market by the management. Towards the end of the video, they have to answer a question per group. The videos ought to be submitted on or before Monday, 9th December 2019. Eco – Village is located in the midst of the Sahyadri mountain ranges in Pathershet village, 57 kilometres away from Chandni Chowk, Pune. Their products and services include jungle trek, nature tour, astronomy and camp fires where nature is in abundance. Marketing Club Activity

Marketing Club’s activity was conducted on 6 th December 2019 at CIML. Eight teams from MBA participated in a wide variety of activities. It began with an icebreaking session, which comprised of crossing an obstacle while being blindfolded and five participants took part in it enthusiastically. The second interesting game was entitled, Product Twist wherein two dissimilar products were combined and the contestants had to devise a strategy to market them eg. Lizol Juice, Tinder University etc. Four students participated from each team and the products were given through chits. The next attraction was La-Mercadeo press conference and five members from each team took part in the conference. All the teams were given current and imaginary situations to test their public relation skill and presence of mind. CSA Contributes For A Social Cause

Centre for Social Action (CSA) is a unique initiative of CHRIST, Lavasa where student communities are sensitized to various issues affecting people from different walks of life. The sole aim of education, apart from academics, is to bring about a change when students work for a noble social cause. Under the aegis of CSA selected undergraduate students went to a school on 2nd December 2019 in Bhoini village and interacted with the little children of the school. The main mission was to convey a message of maintaining sanitation and hygiene among children and menstrual hygiene for women in Bohini Panchayat. The students staged a street play to drive across the point and intermingled well with the students. The Christites addressed the students in the class and played lots of fun filled games with them. Magnificent Christmas Celebration

Magnificat 2019 was celebrated with great fun and frolic at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa on Saturday, 30 th  November 2019. The entire campus bore a festive look to celebrate the spirit of Christmas with beautifully decorated trees and corridors along with Christmas embellishments everywhere. The classes were decked up with confetti and decorative objects and competed for the most decorated class title. It has been said that festivities begin nearly a month before Christmas and CHRIST, Lavasa is not an exception and leaves no stone unturned to spread joy and peace. Workshop on 'Financial Planning Using Mutual Funds’

A workshop was organized on Friday, 29 th November 2019 from 2.30 PM onwards at CIML for MBA first year and PGDM Finance Major second year students on 'Financial Planning Using Mutual Funds ’ . It was sponsored by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and conducted by Mr Esmail Colombowala . Mr Esmail Colombowala holds a post graduate degree and a banking certificate from London. He has over four and a half decades of work experience in the financial IT and training space, besides mentoring management students on interview and presentation skills. He has been engaged with multinational companies and banks and is also an avid investor with domain expertise in the capital market and in-depth knowledge of multiple investment products. Jaro Education took a Skype interview of some students from CIML on Monday, 25 th November 2019. Jay Panjwani , pursuing MBA was elated to have got an opportunity to appear for an interview for Summer Internship Program (SIP) in Jaro Education. He felt quite nervous at the beginning but soon he regained confidence and gave his best performance. He felt that he was able to impress the interviewer and could find himself one among the various competitors who aim to have a career in the corporate sector.   Abin Roby from MBA found it a pleasant experience and found the questions quite challenging. He tried his best to give accurate answers but found some of them made him think deeply. However, he thanks CHRIST, Lavasa for his first Skype interview. It was quite a learning experience. A Meaningful Workshop On Moot Court

On 24 th November 2019 the School of Law CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus conducted a workshop on Moot Courts for first year students of Law. The sessions were conducted by a team of four advocates in five sessions. The workshop commenced at 12.00 PM and the first session was based on the understanding and application of the Constitution of India and Civil Procedure Code with special reference to Moot Court case. It specifically lay emphasis on the process to be conducted in the moot court. Post lunch, the second session was conducted in the moot court wherein the SLCU students and the team that had come to conduct the workshop conjointly executed the demonstration moot. Post Tea, the sessions were resumed and the third session was based on understanding and application of IPC, Criminal Procedure Code for Trial Advocacy case. It is a matter of great pride and honour that two PGDM students from CIML have gone to Liverpool for further studies. Then Dr Kedar Vishnu, Assistant Professor from Department of Economics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa got an opportunity to present his research paper at a symposium in Nanjing, China. He upheld the prestige and glory of CHRIST, Lavasa during his stay and has set a benchmark for others to emulate. HR Club Activity

HR Club activity was conducted on 22nd November 2019 at CIML. Academic Coordinator, Dr Fr Arun Antony released the HR Newsletter, congratulated the HR department and inspired them to work in coordination with each other as a team. He was appreciative of the newsletter and articulated that it covered major events of the department and was pleased to observe that the students earnestly contributed articles for the same.    The highlight of the event was a lecture given by Mr Pushpendra Singh, Executive Coach, Business Coach and a Management Consultant from MIMAMSA , Pune. During the last forty years he has mentored several leaders. He coached 3 MD/CEOs of German/American subsidiaries in Pune last year. IGNITE - 2019 Witnesses Mass Participation

  The Department of Commerce and Management conducted its first inter-class business fest IGNITE -2019 on 20 th  and 21 st  November 2019 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. The event was inaugurated by Academic Coordinator, Dr Fr Arun Antony on 20 th  November 2019. In his inaugural address Fr Arun motivated the students to give their best and reminded them that winning and losing is not as important as taking part. He inspired them to make use of the given platform and enhance their leadership skills by competing in a healthy spirit. Then the anchor introduced all the participants to each activity with related inspirational videos emphasizing its importance. The contestants competed for the following events; Best Manager, Best Management Team, Debate, HR, Finance, Marketing, Business Plan and Business Quiz. The two-day event saw a lot of active participation of nearly 182 commerce and management undergraduate students across multiple verticals. The event
