Opportunities and Challenges in AI-enabled 6G Wireless Technology

The Department of Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa conducted a webinar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in AI-enabled 6G Wireless Technology’ on6 February 2021 at 12:00PM. Mr Shridhar Iyer was the spokesperson for the event.  The session began with Mr KT Thomas welcoming the audience for joining the webinar and introduced the speaker of the day, Mr Shridhar Iyer.  Mr Shridhar Iyer started his talk by introducing all the network generations starting from 1G to 4G. He stated each of their features and the drawbacks, which led to the deployment of the succeeding generations.  He continued to explain the 5G technologies like data rate of enhanced mobile broadband, URLLC, wireless technology and new technologies such as network slicing. He explained the goals of 5G, which is the interconnection of everything, i.e. enhancement of IoE (Internet of Everything). We are gathered together today in honour of a great king. Tomorrow, 19th February marks the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and to commemorate the memory of this visionary leader we have with us Mr. Shivaprasad Mantri to enlighten us on his management practices that continue to be of much relevance, even today.  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a distinguished leader in so many ways. Besides his brave and courageous feats as a warrior king, he was also a benevolent and tolerant ruler. His accomplishments in terms of warfare, administration and nation building were truly exemplary. His thinking and far sightedness allows for us to regard him and his principles in the context of management practices as well, and we have much to learn from him. Talk on Careers in Finance

“Harmoney”, the Finance Club of MBA organized a guest talk on “Careers in Finance” on 12th February 2021 at 2:30 PM through Cisco Webex Platform. The resource person was Dr Dhiraj Jain, Associate Professor, SCMS Pune. Mr Shabarish Ganeshan gave the welcome address, and he introduced the resource person to all the participants. Dr Jain holds a degree in Law from M L Sukhadia University Udaipur, an MBA in Operations Management from IGNOU and a PhD from JRN Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur. He holds a fellowship from Insurance Institute of India and has been a Financial Literacy resource person for SEBI since 2010. A session on Time Management and Library Orientation was held on 5 February 2021. The Time Management talk was delivered by Namita Mukherjee who gave a brief on how students can schedule work and effectively make use of their time. Her main goal in this session was to motivate students to go early to bed, wake up early, make a routine and analyze the tasks to be accomplished as these were some scientifically proven methods to make one efficient. She talked about the need of prioritizing work and how one must target the important tasks first. She recommended making a prioritized task list for the day and following your sequence. This will help us be productive and save us time as well.  Planning should be one of the first things you should do every day. Planning your work even though it might seem time consuming would help in accomplishing the tasks on time.  If a person does it effectively, they can reduce much the necessary time and effort of achieving the goal. Christ Online Sales Championship

The Christ Online Sales Championship finale was the valedictory ceremony of the eighteen day long hardcore selling activity. It was organised by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa campus’s marketing club - ‘Marketing Monks’. The competition was declared open on 18th of January 2020. It was all about giving a hands-on experience of some real time sales and aimed at simulating marketing students with the same. The facilitators had formulated four groups of 10-11 members each with one coordinator and one treasurer from each group. The participants were given a window of eighteen days for realizing their full potential through this sales competition and were free to achieve any target amount with the minimum being equal to their initial investment of one thousand rupees. The Central Government, through the Ministry of Finance, prepares the Finance Bill which contains financial proposals for every financial year. Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India tabled the Finance Bill for the year 2021-22 on February 1 2021, at the Parliament. Indian economy as a whole was negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in a sharp fall in GDP during the lockdown period. After the lockdown was lifted, the economy started showing signs of recovery. The Department Of Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus held an inaugural program on the 1st of February 2021 for all the students of all the courses. The event consisted of a variety of information and details pertaining to the course and it had over seventeen panellists to break the information to the students before the commencement of the new semester. The event began with Ms Elsheba D delivering the opening speech, congratulating us on finishing the previous semester despite all the difficulties due to the pandemic. She wished the students all the best for the new semester of learning and discovering. She acknowledged the presence of the Director, Fr. Dr Jossy P. George and thanked him for his constant support.  She introduced Fr. Dr Arun Anthony Chully and welcomed him to address the gathering. Hands-on Workshop on Technical Analysis

A hands-on workshop on "Technical Analysis" was arranged for 3rd Trimester MBA Finance students on Monday, 1st February 2021, at 2.30 PM through Cisco Webex. Dr Binu P Paul, Head of the Department of MBA, who is an avid market enthusiast and consultant, was the facilitator of the session.  The session started with Dr Paul explaining the need for investors to know the intrinsic value of shares. There are two techniques through which one could ascertain the value of stocks. They are a) Fundamental analysis and b) Technical analysis. In fundamental analysis, the intrinsic value of a stock is ascertained in three steps viz., macro-economic analysis, industry analysis and company analysis which could be done either through top-down or through bottom-up manner. Technical analysis focuses on predicting stock prices by observing past price movements. HR Conclave 2021

The HR Conclave was organized by Prof. Sharad Gupta on the 23 of January 2021. The theme for the conclave was “HR in New Normal”.  Darothi Jas, Sanaya Mathew, and Samantha D’Souza anchored the event and Prof. Shownu Withington as the moderator. As guests for the event, there were four prominent speakers: Mr Santanu Banerjee, Mr Majid Ali khan, Mr Frederick Correa, and Mr Vishal Thakur. The event commenced at 11.30 am with an introduction to the theme, i.e., “HR in New Normal.” Each speaker was then introduced to the audience, followed by the speakers addressing the students and a question and answers round.  The first speaker for the day was Mr Santanu Banerjee, the CHRO of Bajaj Allianz. He spoke eloquently about giving prime focus to agility.
