A Talk on System Sciences and research was organized by the Department of Data Science, for the students in the final year of BSc and MSc Economics and Data Analytics of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus on 9th August 2022. The Talk was delivered by Dr Hiroki Sayama, a professor of system sciences and Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University. The talk was an insightful session wherein Dr Hiroki shared about his journey from working in Info Science in Tokyo to Complex systems in England further to Human Communication in Japan to Bioengineering in Binghamton to finally being a Professor in System and Science Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University. A brainstorming session was conducted on system sciences. He provided insights on how the rational nature of individuals goes invalid when related to system sciences. Eco-Mania was an economics fest organized by the Department of Arts, CHRIST College, Pune, in association with CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus on 8th June 2022. The event was organized with the primary objective of interacting and providing exposure to the students of CHRIST College, Pune. All the events were economics domain-based and enhanced students' theoretical and practical approach more creatively and entertainingly. The Department of Data Science of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organised a Two-day Workshop on 'Applied Econometrics' on 27th -28th May 2022. The workshop was divided into eight sessions for over two days. Applied econometrics integrates conceptual econometrics and empirical data to offer insight into the dynamics of economic theories. Against this context, the workshop aimed to impart knowledge of econometric models and techniques that facilitate empirical research in the domain of economics and finance. The workshop covered a vast repertoire of econometric topics, which allowed the participants to understand how to analyze economic and financial data and how to derive policy conclusions through the use of different methods. The resource person for the day was Mr Prasath VP. Mr Prasath began his presentation with a brief description of the importance of data visualization and the various data visualization tools. He introduced the concept that Data Visualization is a process of graphically representing the data to unveil the information. He used illustrations used to show the importance of visualization. He explained the different techniques such as tables and charts, plots, maps, diagrams and matrices. He explained all the methods using relevant examples and plots. The resource person for the day was Mr Abhishek Bhattacharya.  The session was attended by students of MSc Data Science, BSc Data Science and BSc Economics and Analytics. Dr Nagaraja the form Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore Campus, gave the talk on ‘Classification and Discriminant Procedures’. Dr Nagaraja started the presentation with “Difference between Discrimination (separate distinct sets of objects) and classification” (allocate new objects to predefined groups) with the help of graphs and examples. He continued to talk about the difference between classification and clustering. He explained that clustering is an unsupervised learning method and classification is a supervised learning method.
