Workshop on Film Making During Pandemic Situation

The Department of Data Science the and Department of Media Studies, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru in technical association with Computer Society of India (CSI) organised a one-day workshop on 'Mobile Filmmaking During Pandemic Situation'. The workshop took place on December 18th, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via the Cisco WebEx platform. Around 150 participants from different schools and colleges participated in the workshop. The event began with Mr Nihal Thapa, the student coordinator, who welcomed all the participants and gave general instructions on attending the workshop. Workshop on Careers in Teaching/Research/JRF UGC NET/SET

  A workshop on Careers in Teaching/Research/JRF UGC NET/SET was organised by the Department of MBA on 8th December from 4-5pm. A total of 27 Masters level students participated in the event including students from second year Marketing Specialisation and Data Science.  The resource speaker was Prof. Stanny Dias.  The workshop was divided into 3 components where the speaker first spoke about careers in teaching and research. Details on research fellowship and stipend if they opt for full time PhD was shared with the students. The next component was about what UGC NET is and its details in terms of eligibility and exam pattern. Clear understanding between UGC NET assistant professor and JRF was made known to the students. Tips regarding clearing competitive exams were shared including preparation for Paper I and Paper II. The third component was questions and answers and there were multiple queries from both marketing and economics students regarding various aspects.

Valedictory Function - Hackathon 2020

The valedictory ceremony for Hackathon 2020 was conducted by the Department of Data Science in collaboration with Qubit.AI on December 10th from 12:15 to 1:30 PM. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Samiksha Shukla, Head of the Department of Data Science. The Director, faculty members, The chief guest and all the students were cordially welcomed to the event. She emphasized the importance of the event and congratulated all the students who tried and gave their 100%. She also mentioned that the participation and enthusiasm was amazing. Fr. Dr. Jossy P George delivered an inaugural talk mentioning that Hackathons always give an opportunity for the students to get a feel of the industry. He also congratulated the department for successfully completing the event and ended his talk with the note ‘Dear Christites march on’. Season’s greetings to all! Christmas is upon us, and soon, so will the New Year. This goes without saying, but the year 2020 has left a devastating impact on the lives of so many of us. With the pandemic situation, few of us have been fortunate enough to be well and in good health, while others have not. It has been a task to hold classes online, both for the students and teachers, and work our way through the situation to the best of our abilities. Many of our first-year students are yet to even see the beautiful place and campus that they are a part of. But in spite of all these hardships that we’ve had to face, it is indeed remarkable that we have fought against all adversities with undefeated enthusiasm and hard work.   The Human Rights Law Committee of the Student Bar Association of the School of Law, (Christ Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus celebrated the Human Rights Day on December 10, 2020 wherein a Virtual Colloquium was conducted. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Meeran Borwankar IPS (Retd), who addressed the students and faculty on the topic, 'Police and Human Rights - The Indian Scenario'.  Dr. Daisy Alexander, the Head of the Department, welcomed the chief guest and Fr. Dr. Jossy George, the Director of Lavasa Campus, enlightened the students on the importance of the Human Rights Day. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sunil John. STOCK MARKET COMPETITION 2020 - MBA

Finance Club ‘HARMONEY’ has organized a ‘Stock Mock Competition’ from 2nd November 2020 to 13th November 2020. The Competition was held for 10 days and Virtual Trading Platform named ‘Moneybhai’ (virtual platform by MoneyControl) was used. A total of 127 students participated in the events. The students were from 2nd year Finance students and 1st year batch as a whole. The students were divided into Six teams led by Rahid, Santam, Rahul, Ashton, Sumit and Mohit. A maximum investment of Rs 1 Lakh daily was allowed and daily portfolio report was to be submitted to the respective team leader. Daily data was updated over spreadsheet by the team leaders. On 4th November 2020, first round of elimination was done where a total of 22 students were disqualified for breaching the investment limits and failing to submit the portfolio.   The Business Club was launched on 2nd November 2020 in the presence of Director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy.George, Academic coordinator Rev Fr. Dr. Arun Anthony and Head of the Management Departement. Dr. Binu Paul. They congratulated the organizers of the Business Analytics Club and wished them all the best. This club is known as the ‘Data Divers’ Club. This club will conduct various activities related to spreading knowledge and awareness about the latest business data analytics developments through various conclaves, Workshops, Newsletters, Games, Hackathons, and conferences.   

BUSINESS ANALYTICS CONCLAVE - ANALYTICS CLUB MBA

Business Analytics Club conducted a business Analytics Conclave on 25th November 2020 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. The conclave had three eminent speakers – 1st Speaker, Mr. Chandrasekhar Hota, a Risk Management professional, spoke about Risk Management and Data Science in Internal Audit. 2nd speaker: Mr Arnab Ganguly Spoke about Changing trends in the world of data science. 3rd speaker: Mr. Sajeev Nair enlightened the audience with his intriguing talk on Security Analytic. It was a very interactive session where the participants had many questions related to the increasing intensity and complexity of threats faced by IT security systems, the Fintech Services, and possible ways to deal with these threats in the context of Business Data Analytics

The Marketing Club of the MBA Department ‘Marketing Monks’ hosted a Quiz contest for the MBA Students on November 27, 2020. The Quiz was conducted in three rounds. A preliminary round of questions related to Business current affairs was shared through Google form in the drive to shortlist the participants.  The second round was conducted in Quiz Wizard(quizwhizzer.com) with the questions on logos and taglines and the final round was in Kahoot with specific questions related to Marketing. The students took part in the quiz with a great deal of enthusiasm which created a spirit of healthy competition intended to test their business and general knowledge. The event was coordinated under the guidance of Assistant Professor., Prof. Jobin and Dr. Neena PC with the team efforts of student organizers., Ms. Rimple Rai, Aaron George, Dwayne Gibson and Anurag Singh. Director's Message - XLLENZ 2020

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to you all! I would like to commence my address today with a quote, the source of which is unknown but this quote carries the essence of what Xllenz and CIMA events should mean to you as students. It goes - “Remember why you started” In the middle of assignments, CIAs and academics, Xllenz will surely be a breath of fresh air; an opportunity to break away from the monotony of academics, and an opportunity to create enriching experiences in your student life. But beyond this, I hope the fest will remind each one of you your reason and motivation behind taking up the course. Not just based on academics and the classroom experience that you engage with on a daily basis, but on the basis of challenging events that will prepare you for the corporate world outside your classroom. Xllenz offers a variety of events relating to HR, Finance, Operations, Management and so on. I strongly urge all of you to participate in a bid to discover and develop your skillset

AIDS DAY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2020

At CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa, Pune, the director Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy George along with all the other faculty and staff members united to stand in solidarity and show support towards fight against HIV. The awareness was spread by wearing red ribbon as a sign to remind us all of the existence of this destructive pandemic and that the fight against HIV is not over yet. As an educational institution CHRIST supports to remove prevailing prejudices of the society and improve the education on the issue. The School of Law at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune took an initiative to mark this day at the institute and collaborated with all other Departments to put forward a strong foot and join the cause to come together for this first ever global health day with this year’s theme – GLOBAL SOLIDARITY, SHARED RESPONSIBILITY.

GLIMPSES FROM CHRI-ZZER INTERNATIONAL QUIZ 2020

Chri-Zzer 2020- International Quiz organized by The School of Business and Management and The School of Commerce Finance and Accounting CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus - The Hub of Analytics in collaboration with CHRIST(Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus organized an International quiz competition for School Students (9th - 12th grade) . The Mega event saw the participation of Quizzers from across the country and abroad competing for the grand FIRST PRIZE of INR 100000/- and a SECOND PRIZE of INR 50000/- The event started on 23 November with a grand inauguration welcoming all the participants to the quiz and giving them a brief of the rounds to be conducted. The Constitutional Law Studies Committee one of the Committees of the Student Bar Association of the School of Law, (Christ Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus commenced the Constitution Day celebrations on November 26, 2020 with the inauguration and an event called “Samvaad” that is the Discussion hour on the relevance and Challenges in Indian Constitution. It is a weeklong celebration with various events comprising of symposium and academic competitions.  The Constitution Day (National Law Day), also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated all over India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
