An interesting session on the topic of ‘Gender Sensitization’ was conducted on the 19th of August for the Department of Data Science students at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The session began with an introduction to the speaker- Shilpi Roy Chowdhury, who is the founder of the Gender Studies Committee at the School of Law and has conducted various gender sensitization training programs. She has published and given several talks in seminars, conferences and panel discussions on intersectional feminism, LGBTQ rights, child rights and transformative constitutionalism. The session began with Ms Shilpi helping us understand the important terms in today’s times, such as Sex and Gender, and how the latter is purely based on the social construct. The host went on further to explain by explaining how this specific problem arose and that it was because of the stereotypes from society. A Talk on System Sciences and research was organized by the Department of Data Science, for the students in the final year of BSc and MSc Economics and Data Analytics of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus on 9th August 2022. The Talk was delivered by Dr Hiroki Sayama, a professor of system sciences and Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University. The talk was an insightful session wherein Dr Hiroki shared about his journey from working in Info Science in Tokyo to Complex systems in England further to Human Communication in Japan to Bioengineering in Binghamton to finally being a Professor in System and Science Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University. A brainstorming session was conducted on system sciences. He provided insights on how the rational nature of individuals goes invalid when related to system sciences. School of Business & Management (SBM) organised a QIP for the faculty members. The program was conducted in the Smart room, MBA block at CHRIST(Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. Day 1 (2nd July) 12:15 PM-1:15 PM The Quality Improvement Programme on ‘Case Study Analysis, Quantitative & Qualitative Research Tools’ was inaugurated by the HoD (MBA) Dr Becky M Thomas. She spoke in detail about the scheduled sessions, the resource person identified for each session and the topics to be covered.
