General Knowledge Quiz Competition

The Centre for Competitive Exams at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organised a General Knowledge Quiz on 29 October 2026 at the Activity Hub, Central Block. The event was organised with the objective of encouraging students to broaden their knowledge, develop intellectual curiosity, and enhance their awareness of various subjects. It provided a platform for students to demonstrate their general awareness, analytical abilities, and capacity to work collaboratively in a competitive environment.

The quiz was designed to create an engaging learning experience beyond the conventional classroom setting. By bringing together students from different academic departments, the event encouraged interdisciplinary interaction and promoted a spirit of healthy competition. It also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from different perspectives, and strengthen their ability to approach questions through collaborative problem-solving.

General knowledge plays an important role in students' academic development, competitive examination preparation, and professional growth. Awareness of current affairs, history, geography, science, politics, and economics enables individuals to develop a better understanding of the world around them. Keeping this in mind, the quiz aimed to encourage students to remain informed and intellectually active. It also focused on developing essential skills such as quick thinking, decision-making, teamwork, accuracy, and time management, which are valuable in competitive examinations, interviews, and group discussions.

The competition followed a structured format consisting of two rounds: a preliminary round and a final round. The preliminary round comprised 15 written questions, where participants were required to demonstrate their knowledge, accuracy, and ability to manage time effectively. Based on their performance, the six highest-scoring teams qualified for the final round. To maintain transparency and ensure fair competition, the use of communication devices, including mobile phones and Bluetooth devices, was strictly prohibited throughout the competition.

Students participated in teams of two, with the flexibility to form teams comprising members from different academic departments. This arrangement encouraged students to interact beyond their respective academic disciplines and benefit from one another's knowledge and perspectives. Working in teams allowed participants to combine their individual strengths, discuss possible answers, and approach challenging questions with greater confidence. Furthermore, the absence of any registration fee ensured that all interested students had an equal opportunity to participate without financial barriers. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams, with ₹1,000 for the first position, ₹500 for the second, and ₹250 for the third, recognising their knowledge, teamwork, and performance.

The event also highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in university life. Activities such as knowledge-based quizzes contribute to the holistic development of students by encouraging them to think independently, communicate effectively, and perform under pressure. Such experiences help students build confidence, improve their awareness of contemporary issues, and develop skills that extend beyond academic learning. The initiative reflected the Centre for Competitive Exams' commitment to providing students with opportunities to strengthen their aptitude and prepare for various competitive examinations.

Overall, the General Knowledge Quiz successfully promoted intellectual growth, healthy competition, and collaborative learning. It provided students with an opportunity to test their knowledge, interact with peers, and develop essential skills while encouraging learning beyond the classroom.
