From Audit Trails to Nature Trails
The morning sun cast its golden glow over the Lavasa hills as ten members of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Audit Team from CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus, set out on a journey beyond their familiar professional routines. Stepping away from audit trails, compliance reviews and institutional quality assurance responsibilities, the team embraced an opportunity to reconnect with nature, unwind and focus on personal well-being. Titled ‘From Audit Trails to Nature Trails’, the initiative was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Trekking Club, as a dedicated engagement and wellness initiative for the Audit Team. Recognising the demanding nature of audit-related responsibilities, the initiative was conceptualised to offer team members a refreshing break from their routine work environment through an immersive outdoor experience.
The carefully curated trekking route through the picturesque Lavasa landscape offered a blend of challenging terrain, scenic vistas and opportunities for reflection. Away from the structured routines of audit reviews and institutional documentation, participants experienced the tranquillity of the natural surroundings while embracing the physical and mental benefits of trekking. The shared journey also provided an informal setting for colleagues to interact, connect and enjoy a meaningful experience beyond their everyday professional responsibilities. As participants navigated the trail, the changing landscape and the physical demands of the trek offered opportunities to slow down, appreciate the surroundings and experience the restorative value of spending time in nature. For a team accustomed to the rigour and attention to detail required in quality assurance and audit processes, the experience offered a welcome change of pace and served as a reminder of the importance of taking time to pause, recharge and reconnect with oneself.
One of the key highlights of the initiative was the mid-trek wellness circle, which provided participants with an opportunity to pause, reflect and practise mindfulness. Through guided stress-reduction activities and breathing exercises, participants explored simple yet practical techniques to manage workplace stress and anxiety. The session emphasised the importance of incorporating mindful practices into everyday routines and recognising personal well-being as an essential component of professional effectiveness. It also offered a moment of collective reflection on the need to maintain a healthy balance between workplace commitments and personal wellness. The combination of physical activity, scenic exploration and mindfulness provided the Audit Team with a valuable opportunity to step away from demanding schedules, experience the outdoors and return with renewed energy and perspective.
At CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus, initiatives such as these reflect the importance of nurturing a campus environment that values employee well-being alongside institutional and professional excellence. By creating opportunities for the IQAC Audit Team to unwind, reconnect with nature and recharge beyond their routine responsibilities, the initiative reinforced the value of holistic well-being as an integral part of a supportive institutional culture. As the participants returned from the hills, they carried with them more than memories of the trail; they took back a renewed appreciation for nature, mindfulness and the importance of stepping away from everyday demands to restore balance and perspective.
‘From Audit Trails to Nature Trails’ was more than a trek; it was a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful way forward is to pause, breathe and find renewed energy in the journey.
