CHRIST Infotech THE CHRIST LAVASA STARTUP AND TRAINING INITIATIVE

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus has created a tech start-up named CHRIST Infotech to help students learn application development and earn by contributing to live projects. Recently forms were circulated to identify interested students looking to take up this opportunity at CHRIST Infotech. We interviewed three friends and fellow trainees of the program, Aarushi K. Sharma, Harsh Gidwani, and Shatakshi Singh. Their answers cleared the fog around this opportunity and gave us a bird's-eye view of its merits.

Q1. Can you explain the concept of Internship at CHRIST Infotech?

Harsh: CHRIST Infotech is CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus’s Software Research and Development Wing, which provides software development training and internships to students interested in learning and working in application development; they focus on Web and mobile applications development. We are learning the concepts under the guidance of faculty members who are available to clarify their doubts when they require. They helped us to learn HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and JavaScript. Currently, we are learning full-stack web application development using Django. Following the training and a mini-project, students assist CHRIST Infotech in live projects for which they will be rewarded based on their performance.

Q.2. Are you getting paid currently?

Aarushi: As of right now, we are not being paid because we all are trainees currently. After we are done with our mini project and assessment, we will be assigned to projects for which we will get compensation and rewards based on our performance.

 

Q.3. How long is the training period? 

Aarushi: It is around two to three months.

Q.4. You all have been a part of this internship for almost a month. Are there any new skills you have learned recently?

Satakshi: I had no idea what HTML was, and for the last two weeks, we have been working with it, and it is a bonus to be here to explore and learn.

Q.5. Is it interfering with your education in any way?

Aarushi: Contrary to that, it is aiding our academics. 

Q.6. How is CHRIST Infotech helping you in your career?

 

Aarushi: With current world dynamics, programming and analytical skills are a must-have. CHRIST Infotech provides software development training and internships for students interested in learning and working in application development. We are ear to see how the applications capture data and how these data can be applied to various analyses and gather insights into real applications. Through CHRIST Infotech, we are currently learning the basics of web application development, including HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.

Q.7. What's the best part of it? 

Harsh: Learning a new skill in itself is a gratifying experience.

Q.8. How do you all deal with the problems or, in the words of coding ninjas, “the bugs”?

Satakshi: Throughout the training, approaching our Data Science professor, Alwin Joseph, has been very easy. When we get stuck we approach him with our doubts. Alongside that, we have senior members of Infotech to help us too. 

Q.9. Is there a loss for devoting your time over here? 

Shatakshi: Throughout the training, approaching the team has been very easy. When we get stuck, we could get help from the faculty members, who are part of the team, to clarify our doubts. We also have senior members of CHRIST Infotech to help us.

Aarushi: If anything, it is helping us build a more extensive social network of like-minded people.

 

Harsh: It's just an hour's commitment. 

Q.10. How did you get the opportunity? 

Aarushi: All the interested students had to submit their resumes via the form circulated through email, and that is how we got into the training program. There's a lot more to do before we get involved in real projects.

Q.11. Is this Training and Internship program open for all?

Before joining the CHRIST Infotech - Training and Internship program, we spoke to the team, briefing them about our dilemma regarding our lack of knowledge in programming and technical skills. The team welcomed us and informed us that no prior experience or skills were required. Since we are starting from the basics, I think anyone willing to learn new technology can join.
