IGNITE - 2019 Witnesses Mass Participation
The Department of Commerce and
Management conducted its first inter-class business fest IGNITE -2019 on 20th and
21st November 2019 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa.
The event was inaugurated by
Academic Coordinator, Dr Fr Arun Antony on 20th November 2019.
In his inaugural address Fr Arun motivated the students to give their best and
reminded them that winning and losing is not as important as taking part. He
inspired them to make use of the given platform and enhance their leadership
skills by competing in a healthy spirit. Then the anchor introduced all the participants
to each activity with related inspirational videos emphasizing its importance.
The contestants competed for
the following events; Best Manager, Best Management Team, Debate, HR,
Finance, Marketing, Business Plan and Business Quiz. The two-day event saw
a lot of active participation of nearly 182 commerce and management
undergraduate students across multiple verticals. The event created the right
platform for new undergraduate entrants to showcase their talent in various
activities.
The teams were classified as
follows:

The participants were
facilitated by a large number of post graduate management students who
volunteered to organize the fest. Despite regular classes management
students of CIML took out time and coordinated the event. They were spirited
and enthusiastic and came up with ingenious ideas. Their involvement went
beyond the obvious coordination as they encouraged under graduate students to
take part with a lot of zeal and zest.
A festive atmosphere was
created through active participation of the contestants. The tasks rightly
assessed their endurance, stress management skills while the focus was on
something very specific pertaining to the topic. The events tested their
knowledge acumen, communication skills, leadership qualities and it was a
perfect event to explore, modify and enhance their professional and personal
potential.
Best
Manager was most coveted title and tested their skills through marketing
strategy, One Man Debate, HR Rap, matters related to Finance and a
quiz through Kahoot. They were also given additional tasks such as
making Creative CV and Video on Ethics.
To bag the Best Management Team
title the participants were judged through a quiz, B-Plan, fun filled
activities such as HR Team Building, Art Attack and Dumb Charade. In the final
round there was a detailed Case Analysis.
The Business Plan Event was
equally exciting and tested the enthusiastic contestants on different
parameters. At the outset they had to generate a new business idea with
specific reference to the challenges to be faced, they had to also formulate
marketing strategy to relaunch an outdated product and convince the investors
in their venture. Debate rounds were highly interactive in nature and tested
their oratory and debating skills. B Quiz tested their basic and in-depth
knowledge on a given topic. The highly thought-provoking and collaborative
rounds for HR, Marketing and Finance saw active participation by the
contestants. They participated wholeheartedly and gave their best to score
points for their respective teams. The fest was one of its kind wherein
students competed against other teams to emerge as the best team and get the
overall trophy.
Director & Dean, Dr Fr
Jossy George graced the occasion on 21st November 2019 and gave
