Reaching Out Through Webinars

Imparting education works best when it is combined with technology. CHRIST, Lavasa has always supported use of ICT in and out of the classroom. While everyone is at home in different parts of the country, online classes are being conducted for the students in all disciplines be it MBA, Law, Data Science, Economics or Commerce. CHIRST is constantly updating the students and faculty alike through webinars being conducted from time to time.

A webinar becomes useful and imperative when it offers right knowledge under the most appropriate circumstances. For a long lasting effect a webinar ought to be interactive in nature and the message must be conveyed effectively to the target audience. Some webinars are recorded so they can be viewed at a later date when the broadcast is over. This enables an institution to increase both the reach and the impact of the lesson.

The most effective part of a webinar is that it allows the audience to ask questions and get real-time feedback instantly on the lesson or training. The students have the liberty to complete the assignment by the due date but there is flexibility in time which is one of the advantages of blended and online teaching and learning.

QIP (Quality Improvement Program) was conducted from April 22nd to 26th 2020 across all the branches of CHRIST by Academic Staff College and it proved extremely beneficial for the teachers as they followed some modalities to access the program.

There were two parts to the QIP, a thirty-minute direct presentation to the faculty using a video conference app every day and the second part of the QIP was what is known in blended learning as asynchronous learning. It was a learning activity by the participants in the learning management software (Moodle or Google Classroom). There were opportunities for discussion, quizzes, reading, posting assignments and several tutorials.

So far many webinars have been conducted for students and faculty members and everyone takes active participation in them and gains knowledge online while sitting at home. It has been observed that the students are quite attentive while attending a webinar as it happens live and there is conversational engagement especially in the last half an hour of the lecture. The students and teachers express their views, clarify their doubts, and ask pertinent questions in the interactive session. So CHRIST Lavasa fraternity finds webinar a great way of learning and they are immensely benefitting from the same.
