Faculty Development Program on Applications of Analytics in Business Management

 

Introduction: The Faculty Development Program on Applications of Analytics in Business Management, organized by the School of Business and Management at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus, took place from 3rd July 2023 to 7th July 2023. The program aimed to equip faculty members and professionals with essential knowledge and skills in analytics to enhance their understanding of its applications in the field of business management.

Highlights of the Program: The five-day program featured distinguished speakers and experts who shared their valuable insights and experiences, covering various aspects of analytics and its alignment with business management. Here are the highlights of each day's sessions:

Day 1:

•          Prof. Prashant Joshi, the Founding Director & Chairman of Leap & Scale Pvt. Ltd., set the context of the Faculty Development Program by introducing the genesis and fundamentals of analytics.

•          Participants engaged in brainstorming sessions, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Day 2 and Day 3:

•          Dr. Samad Shaikh, the CEO & Founder of SAMADPRO LLP and CEO and Consultant at GreenfoTech, Aurangabad, conducted hands-on training in Python.

•          Participants learned essential concepts such as Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Numpy, Array, Pandas, and Data Visualization.

•          Practical exercises and examples were provided to enhance participants' understanding and proficiency in utilizing Python for data analysis and visualization.

Day 4:

•          Prof. Alwin Joseph, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus, conducted sessions on data visualization using Tableau.

•          Topics covered included Connecting Data Sources, Creating Charts, and Creating Dashboards.

•          Participants gained practical skills in visualizing data effectively and communicating insights through interactive dashboards.

Day 5:

•          Dr. Vikas Adhegaonkar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus, conducted sessions on predictive analytics using R.

•          Specific use-cases from the finance industry were discussed, enabling participants to understand the application of predictive analytics in financial decision-making.

•          Participants learned how to analyze and forecast financial data using R and gained insights into data-driven decision-making in finance.

Valedictory Ceremony: The program concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, held on the 7th of July 2023, at the Auditorium, Management Block of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the participants and acknowledged their dedication throughout the program.

The Director of the University delivered a valedictory address, emphasizing the importance of integrating analytics into business management practices and encouraging lifelong learning in the field. Certificates were awarded to the participants by the Director, recognizing their successful completion of the Faculty Development Program.

The Faculty Development Program on Applications of Analytics in Business Management proved to be a resounding success. Participants gained in-depth knowledge of analytics, Python programming, data visualization, and predictive analytics.
