PhD Inauguration
The Centre for Research at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, is pleased to announce the inauguration of the PhD program for the December 2024 cohort. The event, held on the 11th and 12th of January 2025 in the Smart Room, Central Block, marked a momentous milestone for the institution, which is esteemed as 'The Hub of Analytics.'
Day 1: 11th January
2025
The inauguration ceremony commenced at 9:30 AM
with a compelling opening address by Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas, Dean and Director of
the Lavasa Campus. In his remarks, Fr. Lijo underscored the university’s
unwavering commitment to fostering a robust research culture and emphasized the
pivotal role of academic rigor and integrity in advancing doctoral studies.
Subsequently, Dr. Preethi N., Head of the Centre for Research, delivered an insightful presentation outlining the institution’s dynamic research initiatives tailored to support scholars throughout their PhD journey. The first session, titled "Ice Breaking and Senior Interaction," created a platform for new scholars to connect with senior PhD candidates, cultivating a collaborative and community-oriented environment.
The day's sessions included:
- Research in Higher Education Institutions - Dr. Jibrael Jos. Associate Dean, explored the dynamic
transformation of academic research and emphasized the pivotal role of
higher education institutions in fostering and advancing scholarly
pursuits.
- Selection of Research Topic & ROL (Review of Literature) - Dr. Parameswaran S.HoD of BBA underscored the significance of choosing
a research topic that balances relevance and feasibility, stressing the
necessity of comprehensive preliminary exploration to establish a robust
foundation for the study. Furthermore, he delved into the Review of
Literature (ROL) process, emphasizing its pivotal role in uncovering gaps
in existing research, shaping the research question, and positioning the
new study within the wider scholarly framework.
- Research Design - Dr. Sanjay
Bang Research coordinator of Law department offered a comprehensive
analysis of research methodologies, providing scholars with insightful
guidance on designing rigorous and impactful research projects.
- Law, Ethics, and Morality
in Research Dr. Anto Sebastian , HoD of Law, presented
a thought-provoking lecture on the ethical dimensions and moral
responsibilities of researchers, highlighting the critical importance of
upholding integrity and transparency throughout the research process.
Day 2: 12th January 2025
The following sessions included:1.Introduction to
Publications, Patents, and Copyrights - Dr. Preethi N.
provided a detailed exposition on the processes of publishing research
findings, obtaining patents, and navigating the complexities of copyright law.
2. Quantitative and Qualitative Research Approaches - The afternoon sessions were
equally enlightening, featuring discussions on the selection of research topics
and the intricacies of conducting a Review of Literature (ROL). Dr. Vipin Das
R. V. Assistant Professor of Law, introduced scholars to a range of qualitative
and quantitative research methodologies.
3. Knowledge Pro - An interactive session led Dr. Preethi N. and Mr. Appu from the IT Department conducted an engaging
interactive session, focusing on the effective utilization of technological
tools for research management and data analysis.
The inauguration culminated in a final
interactive session led by Dr. Preethi N., providing scholars with an
invaluable platform to address queries and engage in insightful discussions
about their research ideas with faculty members.
