QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM 2021 - SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT (MBA) -
School of Business and Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa, organized a Quality Improvement Program for its faculty members on ‘Digital Transformation and Its impact on Academics’ from 26 th June 2021 to 2 nd July 2021. The introductory talk was given by Fr Director & Dean, CHRIST, Lavasa, Dr Fr Jossy P. George on “Date with Data.” It focused on the relevance of data and its use in creating logic. The talk was followed by the keynote address given by the HoD of the MBA department Dr. Binu P. Paul. It was a thought provoking session on disruption due to digital transformation in education sector, changing models of teaching & learning and the role of educator in new environment.
The first session was a two days’ workshop on ‘Design Thinking’ conducted by Mr. Ayan Bandopadhyay, the Master Educator of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The workshop revolved around the importance of Human Centeredness in problem solving. The issues with the traditional approach to solution designing were critically analyzed. It emphasized on the need of a paradigm shift in the area of design thinking. This, indeed, was an enriching session for the participants.
On the third day, Dr. Abhishek Behl, Director-Gamification4all, gave a lecture on how to incorporate gamification in classroom teaching (online, off line or hybrid) to make the sessions more interactive. Various gaming platforms like Forest, Todoist, and Miro Board were introduced to the participants. Their application to performance measurement, motivation, and objective reviews were also discussed with the help of different case studies. The use of gaming concepts by Goibibo and Google Pay in business operations was also shown.
On the fourth day, Mr.Satish Kadu, the founder and CEO of YOptima, a real time ad network platform, conducted an insightful session on ‘Digital Transformation in Marketing.’ Split into three parts, the session introduced the participants to digital marketing, emergence of data driven economy and the role of YOptima in this transformation. Various application of digital marketing were also discussed.
On the fifth day, the first session on ‘Digital Transformation in BFSI Sector’ was by Mr. Kartik Swaminathan, the author of the book 3F Future Fintech Framework and the founder at Fintastech. Speaking about Fintech and changing dynamics, he elaborated on the digital transformation. He took the participants to an interesting journey of developments in the digitization in the field of banking, insurance, and education. He concluded the session by emphasizing on the need for a simplified and futuristic framework to understand the trends and developments in the area.
The last session of Quality Improvement Program was conducted on ‘Ethics and Governance’ by Dr. Anita Shantaram, Head of The Compliance and Ethics Academy and Founder of Ethics India She dwelled on the impact of ethics and digital transformation on academics. It was a relevant session in these difficult times when the boundaries between personal and professional life have become blurred. It highlighted the importance of ethics in all the aspects of an individual’s life. The role of artificial intelligence in this respect was also discussed.
The program ended with concluding remarks from Dr. Fr. Arun Antony Chully, Academic Coordinator, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa. He stressed on the need to integrate corporate learning with classroom teaching using innovative tools and techniques. Finally, the Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Becky M Thomas, Professor and Head Research, Coordinator, MBA & International Affairs.
