Raising awareness and creating a tobacco free environment

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, celebrated on May 31, 2024, CCHS undertook a comprehensive awareness campaign to educate students about the dangers of tobacco use. Recognizing the importance of reaching a broad audience, the school leveraged its Instagram handle to share vital information and resources. This online platform allowed CCHS to engage with students through interactive posts, stories, and live sessions, all designed to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco and promote a tobacco-free lifestyle.

In addition to the social media initiative, CCHS sent informative emails to all students, ensuring that the message reached everyone directly. These emails included a detailed poster that outlined the harmful effects of tobacco, statistical data on tobacco-related illnesses, and personal stories from individuals who have successfully overcome tobacco addiction. By providing this information in a visually appealing and easily accessible format, CCHS aimed to make a lasting impact on students' perceptions of tobacco use.

Furthermore, the campaign emphasised practical strategies for dealing with tobacco addiction. Through the Instagram platform and email communications, students were introduced to various support systems and resources available to help them quit tobacco. This included information about counselling services, support groups, and hotlines dedicated to assisting individuals in their journey to becoming tobacco-free. The campaign also highlighted the importance of a supportive community in overcoming addiction, encouraging students to seek help and support from their peers and family members.

CCHS’s multi-faceted approach ensured that students were not only made aware of the dangers of tobacco but also empowered with the knowledge and resources to take action against it. By utilising both online platforms and direct communication, the campaign effectively reached a wide audience and provided comprehensive support to those struggling with tobacco addiction. The initiative reflected CCHS’s commitment to promoting a healthy and informed student body, ultimately contributing to a tobacco-free future.

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day an awareness program was successfully carried out by the CCHS team. Health and well being of students is paramount for learning. Utilising the popularity and ease of access of online platforms, a lasting impact was made on the students about the risks and harms associated with tobacco use. Important information about counselling, help lines, support groups, etc. was relayed to the students. This program and a  broad approach adopted by the CCHS team in creating awareness and sharing of information should prove to be a deterrent in the use of tobacco among students in the coming future.
