The webinar mainly covered the ongoing crises spread all over and how it has been inadequately affecting the global scenario. People were invited from different institutions who were enthusiastic to gain knowledge. The session commenced with a welcome note introducing Prof. BhanuMurthy to address the crowd. He began his address explaining the current facts about Indian economy and the world. He attributed that due to the ongoing pandemic the Indian economy shall face a downfall but would definitely gear up soon through a “shape of smoking pipe.” The economy shall drop down at a faster rate but will grow slowly but steadily provided effective steps to revise the economy are taken.

He further shared that the steps taken by government are effective and constructive for the Indian economy. In addition, banks as the fundamentals of the financial sectors should be more focused. He gave a proper mixture of both monetary and fiscal policy to be implemented during such times. He created an impact in the webinar by giving a very practical yet rational approach towards this current crisis. The students gained immense knowledge about the current pandemic and its effects on economy.

The whole webinar focusing on Covid-19 and Indian economy was very well organised by the Department of Economics, Mr. Kedar Vishnu and Dr. Ginish Cheruparambil the faculty co-ordinator for the same.
