Stock Market Simulation Game


Stock Market Simulation Game aimed at providing important insights to students on investing in the stock markets and how to perform necessary fundamental and technical analysis to invest. 

The event was launched on 29th September 2022 at the inaugurals of all the clubs of MBA. Stock Market Simulation Game was the first event conducted by the Finance club – Harmoney for the academic year 2022-23. The student coordinators of the events Mr Shaurya Singh Rawat and Ms Lalitha Choudhary S gave a brief note of what the event is about and how the event will be conducted along with the rules and regulations of the event.

The competition took place on moneybhai.com a virtual trading platform of moneycontrol.com. Each participant was asked to make a profile on moneybhai.com. Participants were given a list of 20 companies to be invested in and a virtual capital limit of ₹ 10 lakhs to invest.  All the participants were then directed to start trading in the stocks provided to them. The event continued for seven trading days. Participants were asked to send a screenshot of the profit and loss statement at the end of each trading day. Participants were informed that exciting rewards and certificates will be given for the top 3 participants with the highest profits and all the participants will be provided with e-certificates. Participants who would violate any of the rules would be eliminated.

A total of 37 students participated in the event which was conducted from 3rd October to 12th October 2022. A Whatsapp group was created for the participants and all the necessary instructions were sent to the participants through the Whatsapp group a day prior to the event started. After the event was conducted, all the screenshots were used to find the top 3 participants with the highest profits.  

The prize distribution ceremony of the event was conducted on 21st October 2022. Dr Becky Thomas, Head of the MBA Department distributed the prizes to the winners. The winners got Trinity and Café Concerto vouchers worth ₹ 1500, ₹1000 and ₹500 and certificates for their performance. Dr Danish Hussain and Prof Mohit Boralkar guided and supported all throughout the event. The detail of the winners and their portfolio are as follows:

The event was great learning experience for the students. It exposed the participants to the practical aspect of stock market trading utilizing the academic knowledge. At the end using the data generated from the completion, Dr Danish Hussain also pointed out some important behavioural biases that can creep into human behaviour while trading in stocks.
