The Tree Plantation drive was conducted on behalf of the Marketing Club exhorting the message of Gandhiji for sustainability. The drive was conducted on 1 October 2022 from 12.30 to 1.00 p.m. Respected Dean & Director Fr. Jossy P George, Academic coordinator Fr. Justin, Head of the Department, MBA Dr Becky M. Thomas, all the faculty members and students from MBA were present for the tree plantation drive.

Miss Rispa Maria was the Emcee for the event, and she delivered a speech on sustainability as given below

‘’Tree plantation is not just something that should be done; instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour. Planting trees is especially important to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming. Gandhiji’s life had a considerable influence on the environment in India. The green thoughts of Gandhiji give us a new vision to harmonise nature with the help of people. His ideas relating to Satyagraha based on truths and non-violence, simple lifestyle, and development reveal how sustainable development is possible without harming nature and our fellow beings. His idea that “Nature has enough to satisfy everyone’s need, but not to satisfy anybody’s greed” becomes the one-line ethic of modern environmentalism.

The way he lived is the best example of sustainable development. There are many sustainability benefits, both short-term and long-term. We cannot maintain our Earth’s ecosystems or continue functioning as we do if more sustainable choices are not made. If harmful processes are maintained with no change, we will likely run out of fossil fuels, huge numbers of animal species will become extinct, and the atmosphere will be damaged. Clean air, nontoxic atmospheric conditions, growth of resources that can be relied upon, and water quality and cleanliness are all benefits of sustainability. The concept of sustainability comprises three pillars: environmental, social and economic—also known informally as profits, planet, and people. These are particularly relevant to corporate sustainability and efforts made by companies. Another essential aspect was Ecological harmony, which is also the ultimate concern of humankind to nature. It is a kind of multi- interface with greater harmony. Harmony is about human, social and natural harmony. ‘’

The Tree Plantation drive gave an insight to the students on how they should act to save the environment and switch towards sustainable living and the importance of sustainability in the modern world.
