FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AT CIM, LAVASA
9th July 2018 marked the beginning of a Faculty Development Program at Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa by AICTE for teaching staff from 40 engineering colleges in Western Maharashtra. The eventful 7 day program was held from 9th to 15th July 2018. The aim of this maiden venture by AICTE was to orient and empower teachers to conduct Student Induction Programmes in their respective colleges.
These Student Induction Programmes would thereby help students to adapt to college life, set goals for themselves, get along well with their fellow students, live in harmony with their surroundings and develop themselves into better individuals. This program was a sequel to the 3 day program which was held from 26th to 28th June 2018. The sole purpose of this program was to discuss strategies pertaining to Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing and Human Resources.
Around 100 teachers from 51 colleges in Pune, Nasik, Ahmadnagar, Baramati and neighbouring areas participated in the aforesaid programme. On an average two participants from each college attended the programme. Each participant was registered online through e mail. Transportation arrangements to and from Pune, were clearly chalked out down to the last detail from 9th to 15th July 2018 for the participants.
Upon arrival all the participants were registered for the programme and allotted rooms. A photocopy of the booklet on Universal Human Values was provided to each participant. Arrangements for their stay were made at CIM’s hostel which is located near the college. Participants were allotted AC rooms on a twin-sharing basis and provided transport facilities from the hostel to the college campus daily. All meals were provided on the college campus.
Resources persons came from Warangal, Pune and Ahmedabad. CIM facilitated their transport arrangements from Pune to Lavasa and vice versa. All possible efforts were made to make their stay comfortable.
The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of lamp by Director, Fr Jossy and selected senior faculty members. The participants were briefed about the mandatory rules related to the program.
In his welcome address Director, CIM welcomed the teams and reiterated the fact that the success of the Induction Program lead to the Faculty Development Program. The program aims to redesign the curriculum and help to reduce the gap between industry and academia. It was followed by introduction of key note speakers.
The programme was conducted in the auditorium from 9 am to 5 pm daily by the resource persons. Attendance was taken four times a day. Copies of the attendance sheet were handed over to the AICTE.
During the last session participants were encouraged to give oral feedback too. Photocopies of the written feedback forms were handed over to the AICTE representative. All the resource persons met the delegates after the scheduled program for a brief interaction. A group photograph was taken on the last day.
Finally the positive feedback from participants, resource persons and the AICTE representative attributed to the overall success of the programme. Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa offered a conducive atmosphere to conduct the program efficiently.
