Cleanliness Drive To Mark Gandhi Jayanti

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a cleanliness drive was initiated by CSA on 2nd October 2019. The students, non teaching staff and few faculty members cleaned the area between hostel, Central Block and Management Block, CHRIST, Lavasa, with great zest and zeal in the morning.
Director & Dean, Dr Fr Jossy George spoke in his inaugural address. He motivated the students to imbibe a spirit of keeping the surrounding neat and clean under all circumstances. He said that on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, as Indian citizens and as an individual it is the moral responsibility of each and every one to cooperate with Swatch Bharat mission. Fr Jossy rightly said that global warming is growing at an alarming rate hence it is our responsibility and duty to try every possible way to maintain cleanliness and keep the environment clean.

The scorching heat of the blazing sun did not deter their spirits as the participants went on a cleaning spree with gusto. They cleared the weeds, grass on the footpath, under the trees and bushes apart from the main road. It inspired the onlookers and they vowed to keep their immediate environment neat and clean throughout the year.

The initiative instilled in them a feeling of keeping the campus and environment spick and span. It inspired the students to have a healthy body, mind and soul. The act focused on ensuring a clean surrounding and inculcating good and healthy habits.

The nearly two hour long cleanliness drive culminated at Management Block and everyone was offered tea and snacks. There was a feeling of satisfaction in the hearts of the participants who felt glad to have contributed for a meaningful cause. The program was coordinated by Assistant Professor Ginish.
