Placement Training Session by Mr. Vishal Thakur
Mr. Vishal Thakur, HR at TATA Capital, conducted a Placement Training Session for HR and Finance students on 17th August 2021. It was a very informative and interactive session. Mr. Vishal stressed upon few major points that students need to keep in mind while appearing for interviews.
He talked about how it is important to understand why a particular question is being asked and what the interviewer would be expecting out of it instead of just answering it like a direct question paper. For example, for the most common question “Tell me something about yourself”, the candidate must answer with interesting information that is not mentioned in the resume or CV, instead of saying the very same points. The introduction must always be well prepared and practiced.
Students must listen to the questions correctly and completely. Many times, in a rush to seem active, candidates tend to answer even before the question is completed. That mistake must strictly be avoided.
Another important point is that in an interview, there are no independent questions. There is always a link and a flow. Hence, candidates must be completely honest and authentic with their answers since fake answers can be identified easily. Also, answers must be meaningful and not just for the sake of answering.
One area where the current generation is lacking is having authentic and verified current affairs knowledge. In the generation of technology and the internet, almost no students prefer reading physical newspapers whereas they must make it a habit. Since the news in the physical newspapers is considered as most authentic and reliable compared to other online news platforms. The candidates need to be generally aware.
Another point added to this was being thorough with positive hobbies. It shows how active, and initiative personality does the candidate has. It also shows that the candidate is productive and has a creative positive thinking mindset.
To end with, Mr. Vishal said that it is very important for the candidate to be completely aware of their Summer Internship Project work. They must know deep knowledge about the work they performed and be completely honest about it. Because that is the only common ground that connects a fresher with the corporate.
To conclude, Mr. Vishal answered few questions asked by the students. All the students were very inspired by the session because most of their doubts about the interview were answered and they felt completely involved during the session since it was very interactive.
