Art Extravaganza’22

Art Extravaganza’22 was conducted on 1st October 2022.  The event was held in Gazebo, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus. Fr. Jossy P. George, the dean and director of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa was invited along with other faculty members to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the event in the presence of the entire student body of CUSBMA including the senior representatives, junior representatives, CUSBMA DDTMCL, the club presidents, vice presidents, and event managers.

The event started in the presence of faculty members, Mr. Akhil Kulkarni and Ms. Anna Anjaly Joy. The event continued for 3 hours in order to ensure that all the faculty members, student body, and BBA (Business Analytics) students had ample time to understand the emotions displayed in the paintings and the time and effort their classmates put into showing their passion and how their imagination works on a simple yet delicate theme such as Eco-sensitivity. 20 art pieces were displayed in the form of durable canvases and digital art with respect to the theme of Eco-Sensitivity. Before the day of commencement of the event the participants were given two weeks to prepare their canvases and digital paintings, this time was given to ensure that the participants could submerge themselves in the topic and get a full grip on the vulnerability of the topic provided to them. The highest bid made that day was Rs. 6000 for a canvas made by a student from BBA (Business Analytics). Along with the art exhibition, an auction was also held for the event to encourage the students' creativity and efforts.

As a result, most of the artwork was auctioned to fellow students and faculty members; the money that was raised was then transferred to the artists. The students also received certificates of participation at the end of the event. The teams that helped in organizing the event and putting up the stalls include, Christ University School of Business and Managements (CUSBMA) Digital Design, Media, Technical, Content and Logistics (DDMTCL). As a part of club activity hour, the students of BBA (Business Analytics) were encouraged to support their peers by viewing the artwork.  The artists expressed their viewpoints by narrating a short description of their paintings. Faculties and students were invited to place their bids on their peers' artwork. It was noticed that many of the students and faculty members were art enthusiasts. Dr. Harshal Salunkhe, Ms. Alphy Mathew, Dr. Shubhashree Acharya, Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, Ms. Anna Anjaly Joy, and Mr. Akhil Kulkarni came to the event to encourage the artists.

In a short while, Fr. Justin P Varghese shared a few words of inspiration and encouragement with the students who created this artwork. The students had also set up food stalls near the Gazebo to promote this event on a larger scale. The faculty members also took turns asking each participant their entire thought process of the drawing, the students were asked about their references, the paints they used, their experiences, and if they had any alternative options if they were made to paint another canvas.
This event encouraged the student artists to express their creativity and also helped them and others in envisioning their story through their paintings. Keeping in line with the theme of eco-sensitivity, the participants were made to paint on durable canvases and were also encouraged to create digital art. Overall, this event aided in exploring the creativity and business acumen in the students.
