Hydra Athletic Meet '22
The Department of Physical Education, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized the University's Hydra Athletics Meet 2022 for several indoor sports, games and athletics events in order to engage the students during the mundane monsoon season. Students who were unable to play because of the rains, took initiative in many different sports outside their usual field of interest. The meet reflected the students' grit, vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue and with ample energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits and to meet competitive spirits of the games. This meet was organized from 29th August - 7th September 2022. The various events were conducted based on the specific rules and regulations laid down for them.
5 departments participated in this meet the departments are as follows:

2. School of Law (LLB)
3. School of Science (DS)
4. School of Commerce and Accounting (BCOM)
5. Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Sports Events:
Badminton:
The resilient grit of individuals clubbed with high spirit was reflected greatly in the league of Badminton. The league consisted of Team Events which consisted of Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Women's Doubles. Over 30 matches were played, with battles amongst various departments. The matches were won by the following students:
Mens doubles:
First place: Shubham and Pruthvi
Second place: Sabyosachi Nandi and Govind
Third place: Dr Reverend Fr Jossy P George and Vishak sir
Women doubles:
First place: Khushi and Neharika
Second place: Pritisha and Khyati
Third place: Devika and Ananya
Mixed doubles
First place: Khushi and Shubham
Second place: Sabyosachi and Niharika
Third place: Manan and Shruti
Futsal:
The league of Futsal, which is an exciting, fast-paced small sided soccer game was played among 14 Teams of all the departments, and consisted of 4 pools. The students consistently showcased transferable skills and precise technical execution amid the fast-moving action of the game was delivered by the players. The finals was taken by the Underdogs team in the penalties, against the Powerangers in a close match.
1st place - Underdogs:
Akhil sir, Hanamant, Hritikesh, Arjun, Parvez, Sabyo, Adarsh, and Suman
2nd place - Powerangers:
Saad, Samaksh, Nandini, Kunal, Atul, Sayak, Avnish, Joel, and Aarya
Table Tennis:
In the event of Table Tennis, All teams were divided with competitions in mixed doubles and men’s doubles. Very competitive and breathtaking matches took place. The following students won the matches:
Mixed doubles:
First place: Hitesh Agarwal and Olivia Mukherjee
Second place: Rehan Das and Bhargavi Korde
Mens doubles:
First place: Rehan Das and Harsh Gidwani
Second place: Atishay Jain and Chirag Motlani
Chess:
Chess had multiple tough and competitive teams participating. The event followed anticipated strategies with no increments.
First Place: Sai Sumanth Reddy
Second Place: Shreyas S
Third Place: Atul S
Carrom:
The carrom tournament took place with excitement and anticipated competition. Testing the participants immense concentration and patience, the tournament ended with the following students as winners:
First place: Abhishek Margale and Sreejata Rudra
Second place: Reetam Datta and Sayak Sen
Third place: Jasani Milan Kantibhai and Savio Joshi
8 ball pool:
An addictive challenging game, 8 ball pool reels in students who want to participate in sports but dont usually have a competitive edge.
First place: Sanyam Jain
Second place: Sushant Sharma
Third place: Divyansh Anand
5 K Marathon:
The 5K run in Lavasa is a long-distance running competition which comes with hurdles of elevated and shaky roads. Although scenic, it takes a strong mind and perseverance to complete the run.
1st place - Nibin completed in 18 minutes.
2nd place - Surya completed in 18 minutes, 30 seconds.
3rd place - Hritikesh completed in 19 minutes.
The Hydra Athlectic Meet concluded with many teams participating and engaging in competitive spirit with students across departments. Many students played for the first time, while others experienced high intensity matches that they have been waiting for. The rains did not drain the spirit of sports.
