Data Science Association (DSA)

On September 16, 2023, the Department of Data Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa, Pune Campus, hosted the Data Science Association's inaugural ceremony from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Prabhakar Kulkarni, Co-founder of Oust Labs (acquired by Betterplace ) and Founder of PraMan, engaged the audience in a fulfilling talk on ‘Awakening the Entrepreneur Within’.

The event included a motivational guest lecture, the felicitation of the Photography competition winners, and a presentation on the proposed plan and office bearers of the association.

Description of the event: Welcome Address by Dr. Lija Jacob

1. In her welcome address, Lija Ma'am extended her best wishes to the Data Science Association (DSA) for their future endeavors and promising initiatives.

2. She acknowledged the challenges faced by the association in the previous year, emphasizing the importance of renewed commitment, and she appreciated the events the association had hosted thus far.

Presidential Address by Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas

1. Dr. Fr. Lijo, the esteemed director of CHRIST(Deemed To Be University), Pune, Lavasa, graced the occasion with his presidential address.

2. He extended his blessings to the Data Science Association and the Department of Data Science, expressing optimism for their future successes.

1. The Data Science Association was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Prabhakar Kulkarni.

Presentation on the proposed events by DSA

1. Prof. Naived Eapen presented an overview of the upcoming events proposed by DSA for the year 2023.

2. Following this, he introduced the newly appointed office bearers and core committee members of the Data Science Association.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Prabhakar Kulkarni

1. The title of Mr. Kulkarni’s talk was ‘Awakening the Entrepreneur Within’. He mentioned the importance of gaining practical experience and knowledge (work to learn ) and maintaining enthusiasm.

2. He emphasized the significance of active participation and its value to personal growth and encouraged individuals to be passionate about their pursuits, regardless of their current skill level.

3. He also stressed the necessity of ensuring that one's efforts are worthwhile and productive while focusing on personal development and efficiency.

4. Mr. Kulkarni highlighted the significance of teamwork, coordination, proactiveness, inclusivity, social awareness, and the recognition that comes from the quality of one's work.

5. He concluded his speech with valuable insights into the mindset and qualities that can drive success in entrepreneurial endeavors, underlining the importance of personal development and dedication to one's chosen path.

Felicitation of Photography Contest Winners

1. Following the gusset lecture, the winners of the Photography competition hosted in August were felicitated.

2. The first position went to Rosh Raj with Yashwanth Kumar V and Jofin James Siby bagging the second and third position respectively.

Vote of Thanks

1. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Libin Chacko.

2. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated student volunteers for their exceptional efforts.

3. He praised the core committee members, office bearers, and faculty in charge for their vital roles in ensuring the event's seamless execution.

4. Sir also conveyed his special thanks to the supporting staff members whose contributions were integral to the event's success on behalf of the association.

Conclusion: The event was a success marked by the promise of a thriving future by the Data Science Association. Students were able to observe the professionalism that goes behind organizing Department events and were able to gain motivational insights through Mr. Kulkarni’s uplifting session.
