GIP Dubai 2023

Executive Summary: This report summarizes the learning of 16 students from the BBA, BCOM, and MBA programs, along with a faculty member, who participated in the Global Immersion Program (GIP) in Dubai from October 23 to 30, 2023. The group embarked on a journey through Dubai's commercial landscape, including visits to Intel Innovation Center, Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Innovation Centre, and Sharjah Research Technology & Innovation Park, coupled with workshops and cultural excursions.

Day 1: Monday, 23 October 2023 - Arrival and Orientation

Students were greeted at Abu Dhabi International Airport and settled in at Myriad Dubai. The day began with an introduction to the vibrant city through a comprehensive Dubai City Tour, offering insights into its cultural and economic landscape. Feedback suggested that while the day was well-received, more efficient time management would have allowed students to absorb more of their surroundings. The group looked forward to the educational opportunities that lay ahead.

Day 2: Tuesday, 24 October 2023 - Industry Insights

The second day's focus was a deep dive into the technological forefront with a visit to the Intel Innovation Center. Students were immersed in discussions on sustainability and technology's role in modern business. The interactive sessions were enlightening, though some students expressed a wish for more in-depth exploration of certain topics. The challenges faced were minimal, with only a few mentions of discomfort with public speaking.

Day 3: Wednesday, 25 October 2023 - Workshops and Leisure

Participants engaged in a hands-on workshop at the Apple Store, enhancing their creative and technical skills. The afternoon brought leisure with a Dhow Cruise, which, despite mixed feedback, remained an integral part of the cultural experience. Students observed the intersection of conservation and innovation, particularly in water and electricity management, sparking discussions on resource optimization.

Day 4: Thursday, 26 October 2023 - Exploring Sharjah's Innovation Landscape

A visit to Sharjah's innovation centers showcased the emirate's commitment to technological progress. The day was well-structured with learning opportunities in tech innovation, though minor adjustments in scheduling were suggested. The exposure to advanced research facilities broadened the students' perspectives on potential career paths within the tech sector.

Day 5: Friday, 27 October 2023 - Sustainability in Focus

The visit to Masdar City was a highlight, offering a tangible look at sustainable urban development. Students were captivated by the city's initiatives and discussed the integration of eco-friendly solutions into everyday life. The feedback was positive, with no substantial improvements noted, reflecting contentment with the day's program.

Day 6: Saturday, 28 October 2023 - Understanding Sustainable Business Practices

Sustainable development themes continued, with students exploring how businesses can incorporate sustainable practices profitably. On this day, the students, in group of 6 each made a 5 minute Vlog for the entire program and presented in front of the jusy. Following team stood first and won the gold medal from the Ureka.
