OBT Session

The outbound training for the faculty members of the Data Science Department of Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus which focused on self- development and improving their teamwork, collaboration and leadership skills occurred on the dates 24-01-2024 and 25-01-2024. The venue for the training programme was The Fern Resort, Mahabaleshwar. The participants reached the venue by 1:00 PM and the first session started at 3:00 PM. Prior to the session, Dr Jibreal Jos welcomed the participants to the Outbound training programme and Dr Lija Jacob addressed the gathering, sharing the aim of the OBT and the agenda that has been planned to be covered in this OBT. Session 1 was conducted by Dr Jibreal Jos where he spoke about atomic habits. He quoted the words of Lao Tzu and elaborated on how change is constant and how it plays a pivotal role in the growth of one person. Engaging the audience in a thought-provoking discussion, he encouraged them to reflect on their own perspectives on growth. The session concluded with an insightful exploration of the habit cycle, accompanied by a stimulating group activity where participants actively shared their observations.

The participants were encouraged to share their observations on the same. Following a brief interval, the session resumed with a series of dynamic activities. Participants, organized into groups, participated in diverse activities ranging from debates to dance performances and the creation of dashboards. Subsequently, participants shared their collective observations and reflections on the activities. The day of the outbound training started with a group activity which was organized by Dr Tiny S Palathra, Dr Vandana Bhagath, and Prof Lian Mathew. Each group was given a certain topic and the groups were asked to come up with a certain action plan, its feasibility and challenges. Each group presented their reports and the entire process was assessed by Dr R Gunavathi, Dr Ashaq Hussain and Dr Shahid Bashir, and towards the end of the presentations, they shared their observations in terms of participation, involvement, and procedure. 





Following the activity, a comprehensive session on Adaptability was led by Dr. Lija Jacob, Dr. Pramila RM, and Dr S Vijayalakshmi. Dr. Lija Jacob initiated the session by sharing her insightful experiences, emphasizing the intrinsic connection between adaptability and personal growth. This was followed by a role-play expertly performed by Dr. Pramila RM and Dr. S Vijayalakshmi, vividly illustrating how adaptability and broadening perspectives contribute to individual and collective development.

The culmination of the two-day outbound training was marked by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. R Gunavathi, expressing gratitude to all the members of the organizing committee and participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. 

OUTCOMES OF THE EVENT

1. To foster a culture of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration among the faculty members, positioning them to excel both individually and as a cohesive team within the Department of Data Science.
