Fundamentals of Digital Archiving 2024

 SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL EVENT

The Department of Languages organized a workshop for Fundamentals of Digital Archiving' on February 7th, 2024, via the Google Meet platform scheduled from 6 PM to 7 PM. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Ishita Shah, a consulting archivist associated with both Pattani Archives (Bhavnagar) and Queer Ink Archives in Mumbai. With her wealth of experience and expertise, Ms. Shah guided the participants into the realm of digital archiving, highlighting the importance of digital repositories in safeguarding and disseminating crucial cultural events and narratives to a wider audience. Ms. Ishita Shah informed the participants of the intricate process involved in the creation and curation of digital archives. Participants were enlightened on the multifaceted nature of digital archiving, gaining insights into the methodologies and best practices essential for establishing and maintaining effective digital repositories. Utilizing suitable examples and demonstrations, Ms. Ishita elucidated the operational frameworks of various digital projects, illustrating their diverse functionalities and overarching objectives. From the preservation of historical documents to the documentation of contemporary cultural phenomena, participants were enthralled by the myriad possibilities afforded by digital archiving.
