SCC Online Database Training Session
The primary objective of the training was to introduce participants to the platform’s comprehensive features and enhance their ability to conduct focused, reliable, and timely legal research. In light of the growing integration of digital platforms in the legal field, the event underscored the importance of mastering online legal research tools for academic writing, case law analysis, referencing, and courtroom preparation.
Conducted by Mr. Sushant Chavan, an experienced professional in legal research platforms, the sessions followed a participatory and hands-on approach. Mr. Chavan provided detailed demonstrations of SCC Online’s various functionalities, such as accessing Supreme Court and High Court judgments, browsing case law digests, using advanced search filters, exploring statutes, and locating relevant legal commentaries. The practical demonstrations and real-time exercises gave participants an opportunity to apply their learning directly and meaningfully.
The sessions opened with a welcome and introductory note, emphasizing the relevance of digital literacy in modern legal education. Participants were then guided step-by-step through the platform’s navigation tools and features like legal citations, case filtering, annotations, and bookmarking. The interactive nature of the training ensured that attendees could ask questions, clarify doubts, and better understand how to utilize the platform effectively for their academic and professional needs.
The event yielded several important outcomes. Participants developed essential digital research skills and gained confidence in using SCC Online independently. The sessions also contributed to increased awareness of the digital resources provided by the university library, reinforcing its role as a vital support system for legal education and research.A notable aspect of the training program was its inclusivity. Two sessions were conducted to ensure that every student from the Department of Law—from first-year undergraduate to final-year postgraduate—could attend. The comprehensive coverage allowed over 300 students and faculty members to benefit from the training. Most of the department’s faculty also participated, reflecting their commitment to staying updated with digital research tools and supporting the academic development of their students.
