Annual Book Fair 2025


The Christ University Annual Book Fair 2025 was held on 5th and 6th May at the Quadrangle, Central Block, and Ivy Hall, Management Block, Pune Lavasa Campus. Organized by the Knowledge Resource Centre in association with various campus groups, the fair aimed to promote a reading culture and provide access to a wide range of academic and general books. Six reputed publishers participated, displaying over 7,000 titles across disciplines. The event saw enthusiastic involvement from faculty, students, Lavasa Public School, and local residents. With multilingual offerings, book donations, and interactive stalls, the fair successfully fostered learning, community engagement, and a vibrant academic atmosphere.

Objective:

The Annual Book Fair 2025 aimed to promote a culture of reading and facilitate access to a diverse range of academic and general reading materials by bringing reputed publishers and vendors directly to the university campus.

Inauguration Ceremony:

The event was formally inaugurated on 5th May 2025 at 10:00 AM by:

  • Fr. Dr. Lijo Thomas, Dean & Director
  • Fr. Justin P. Varghese, Academic Coordinator
  • Heads of Various Departments

The ceremony began with a ribbon-cutting followed by messages from the dignitaries emphasizing the importance of reading and the role of libraries in academic and personal growth. After the formal opening, the dignitaries visited all book stalls, interacted with the publishers, and appreciated their diverse collections.

Each vendor presented a book as a token of appreciation to Fr. Dr. Lijo Thomas. In turn, the university felicitated all vendors and publishers with mementos and gifts, recognizing their contributions to the success of the event.

The fair hosted participation from six reputed publishers and vendors, who showcased books across a variety of genres and disciplines:

  3. M/S M&J Books, Mumbai
  4. M/S Bombay Books, Mumbai
  5. M/S Taxmann Publications, Pune
  6. M/S Himalaya Publishing House, Pune

Around 20 guests, including vendors and representatives, were provided with on-campus accommodation and hospitality. Six guests arrived a day early on the 5th of May 2025, with arrangements made from 10.00 am through the evening of the 6th of May 2025.

  • Law and Legal Studies
  • Management and Finance
  • Science and Technology
  • Literature and Languages
  • General Reading and Self-help

Audience Engagement:

The book fair attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty, researchers, and students across all departments. Visitors explored a wide selection of academic, literary, and self-help books, engaging directly with publishers for inquiries, book suggestions, and purchases at discounted prices.

Key Highlights:

  • Books were displayed in English, Hindi, and Marathi.
  • Both curriculum-relevant and general interest books were showcased.
  • A large number of faculty and students purchased books and suggested new titles for the library’s collection.
  • Student volunteers played a crucial role in event coordination and hospitality.
  • A Feedback and Suggestion Corner helped gather reader preferences and suggestions.
  • Students from Lavasa Public School visited and made purchases.
  • The Library’s book donation initiative for Lavasa Public School received positive support.
  • Local Lavasa residents also attended and bought books.
  • Books were displayed at Central Block on 5th May and Management Block on 6th May, ensuring better reach across the campus.
  • More than 7000 books were displayed in the Book Fair.
