CORPORATE TALK BY MR. SUBRAMANIAN KOMAL R (VP- WHIRLPOOL)

A corporate talk was conducted by Mr. Subramanian Komal R (VP, Marketing and International Business - Whirlpool) at Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa on 17th November 2018. It is always a momentous moment for Christites to attend the talks as it inspires them to understand the corporate sector and gear up for a challenging life ahead.

The corporate talk began with a silent prayer after Ann Landis welcomed the key note speaker formally. He thanked Fr Jossy for inviting him to share his experience. Mr. Subramanian also thanked his wife Laxmi profusely who has contributed significantly and in doing so he strongly asserted not to take a family for granted. Mr. Subramanian spoke at length about leadership and execution of ideas during the interactive sessions.

The talk began on a promising note with a hope that the students of CIM will scale peaks and go a long way professionally. He encouraged them to be tough and courageous come hail or high water as their sole intention ought to be to walk towards their goal. In accordance with Mr. Subramanian’s theory the students ought to take tenacity in its stride. He warned them and asserted that life is fun and may be less rewarding predominantly but they have to keep moving ahead with grit and determination.

Mr. Subramanian advised them to understand themselves and try to decipher some basic questions which deal directly with their interest, passion, dream and ambition. They must know what inspires them and their specified goal. They have to be careful as their choice should not governed by mere expectations or outward attraction of a successful personality. On the one hand they must never underestimate themselves and reply solely upon their instinctive strength to maximize their interest and potential.

Mr. Subramanian Komal R was able to understand the thinking process of the students from CIM and motivated them to think, ponder, mull over and take lessons from high achievers while also remembering their significant personal shortcomings. He asserted that tenacity is important and the students must not look at success stories superficially rather rationalize from a distance and contemplate on what they themselves want to do. Mr Subramanian reminded the students that MBA will equips them with important tool of knowledge as academics will just provide a foundation but they will have to prove themselves while being under strict vigilance as they operate outside the comfort zone. They have to accept diversity of thoughts, habits, behavior etc.

Upon being asked what do they aspire to be the students came up with varied answers and expressed their desire to do what they are passionate about, be a part of a brand manager team, own business or be an entrepreneur and much more. After an interesting interactive session Mr Subramanian advised them to take life as a learning process, which will prepare them over a period of time, to lead a life by design not default because they have to remember that success is subjective.

He was inspirational in a unique way as he gave practical and pragmatic examples which were easy to be identified with. The students asked pertinent questions and he answered them convincingly. The corporate talk was immensely educative and inspirational in nature.
